Photocopiable 12: Speak for a minute (Revision)
Aim: Learners play a board game in groups of 3–4. They move around the board and use prompts
on the squares they land on to speak for a minute.
Preparation time: 5 minutes
Completion time: 20 minutes
Language focus:

Materials: One Speak for a minute game board and a coin with a head/tails side to each
group of 3–4 learners.
Procedure:
• The photocopiable can be used at the end of Unit 3, as revision.
• Tell learners they are going to play a game to revise what they have learned in Unit 3.
• Distribute one Speak for a minute (Revision) game board and a coin with a head/tails side to
each group of 3–4 learners. Make sure each learner has a small object to mark their place on
the game board.
• To play the game, learners toss the coin and move one space if it lands on the head side and two
spaces for tails. Learners use the prompts to speak for up to a minute.
• Circulate and offer support while learners play the game. Use the game as an opportunity to assess
how well learners have learned facts, vocabulary and grammar from Unit 3.
