Skin Peels

Skin Peels A chemical skin peel is a popular procedure used to treat various
skin problems and conditions from acne, age spots, wrinkles. A
caustic acid or substance is applied to your skin by our Surgeon
to gently remove some of the outer layers of the skin (epidermis)
and allow fresher skin cells to grow, to leave you with softer
feeling and glowing skin.

The purpose of chemical peels is to remove your damaged,

blemished, sun-damaged, freckled skin and allow you to get
younger, healthier skin.

After healing your skin will be tighter, thicker (due to increased

collagen production - an added benefit of the stronger peels),
may appear fuller, smoother with smaller pores and with less
wrinkles and fine lines.

In essence, your skin will look rejuvenated and more youthful

following a chemical peel.

Types of Peels There are many types and varieties of these chemical peels.
They are usually grouped and defined by their relative strength
and depth of the peel that is achieved.

There are three groups of peel, the light peels (glycolic acid),
medium peels (TCA), and deeper peels (Phenol).

Skin Peels

Light Peels The sugar and citric acids (salicylic, glycolic, etc...) are lighter
peels and don't require you to have much downtime.

These lighter peels can even be done as 'lunch time' peels. They
are effective if you have light skin pigmentation problems, oily
skin (a prime contributor to pimples and acne), sun spots, and
other minor skin problems.

Multiple treatments are usually required, as these as very light

peels just to freshen your skin.

TCA Peels TCA peels are medium strength peels. TCA stands for
tri-chloroacetic acid and is a more effective and longer lasting
peel than the sugar and citric peels.

It is effective on more skin conditions and problems. TCA peels

are actually able to remove your freckles, address years of sun
damage, deal with your pigmentation problems, scars, tighten
your skin and lessen wrinkles and fine lines.

It is recommended you have a course, usually of 4 peels, 2 weeks

apart to see the best results, however, even after 1 peel you can
start see noticeable results.

Phenol Peels Phenol peels are the strongest chemical peels you can have.
They commonly give a permanent bleaching effect, which can
result in a pale, fake look.

Phenol peels can affect your heart rate and function, so a phenol
peel is always done in a doctor’s care and with anesthesia as it is
the deepest and strongest of the peels. It is usually, a last resort
peel due to its harshness and bleaching properties.

There are other derivatives of these types of peels, but these are
the various chemical skin peels available to you.

Skin Peels

We Recommend The TCA peels are the most effective and most regarded of the
peels.

They are also the best buy - 1 TCA peel equals more than 4 or 5
glycolic peels, so it works out to be much more cost effective,
which giving you really great results, which can last up to a year.

Glycolic Peel results typically last you a few weeks to 2 months.
