Onc# the initial setting has been done, resetting is not necessary ualess the gyrocompass is turned off. 1) 2) 3) 7) Contirm that the gyrocompass reading is stabilized and normal gyro repeater signal is applied. - By curniag the [BRIGHTNESS] and [ILLUMINATION] controls clockwise, increase the brightness of the bearing display and illumiration of the front panel respectively. Depress the [HOLD] switch, and the HOLD lamp on the front panel is lighted. The computing circuit is disconnected from the gyrocompass for easy setting-up. Read the gyrocompass reading. Depress the [COUNT-UP] or [COUNT-DORRT] switch continuously so as to approach the bearing display indicaticn rapidly to the conpass read‘ng. Then release it when the bearing display indicates approximate compass reading. Depress internittently the [COUNT-UP] or [EOUNT-DOWN| switch until the bearing display indication coincides with the gyrocompass reading. Note: The indication of the first place of a decimal varies as below. Depress again the switch, and the HOLD lamp is turned off. The computing cir connected to the gyrocompass and the A-D converter is ready to operate normally. Note: 1. After the initial setting has been completed, do not touch [COJNT-UP] and [COUNT-DOWN]switches, othervise the bearing will deviate. Abnormal indication may appear et a moment the power is supplied for A-D converter. Such being the case, turn aff the power then turn it on again approx. one minute later. 3. When the bearing display indicatian does not coincide with the gyrocompass reading, correct the reading wth [COUNT-UP] and |COUNT-UOWN] switches. MAINTENANCE Replacement of Fuse 1) Take off the top cover by loosening six screws. 2) Disconnect two connectors connected to A-D conve-ter board. | 3) Remove the shield plate (with A-D converter board) by loosening six screws and replace blown fuse with new one. Check the following items for gyrocomass. 1) Type of repeater signal : AC synchro signal or DC step-by- step pulse? 2) If it is synchro type; Primary voltage (rotor) £ AC, v Secondary voltage istator) : AC v Frecuency : 50/60Hz or 400/50042? Gear ratio : 360X, 180K, 90X or 36x? 3) If it is step-by-step type; Repeater driving circuit OC on-of* pulse with 4 output Tines or open collector transistor drive system with 5 output lines? Operating voltage nC v Gear ratio 180K? Comman Tine level with respect to other terminal's level : Positive or negative? The A-D converter is previously set up at the factory for the following specifications. If different specifications are required, reset the DIP switch on A-D converter board 14P-0060 and change jumper connection on that dard and power supply board 14-0062 referring to the instruc- tion affixed on the inner face of the top cover and one mentioned below. APL-4 For the synchro repeater signal of 50/60Hz, 180X, (Soldering Side) Cut copper foil. de izovoL Add jumper wire. 14P-0060-1 M-YLTF AY Py we A-D Converter Board (14P-0060) APL-5 Mounting When siting the A-O converter, select a well ventilated waterproof, place where the initial setting of the bearing can be made with observing gyrocompass reading. The bearing display of the A-D con- verter should not be in the direct peth of bright sunshine or overhead lighting. Cable length to the radar north-up urit, satellite navigation system, doppler sonar current indicator or scanning sonar steady picture display, etc.(max. 10m) must be taker into account. The A-D converter is supplied with a bracket for tabletop or overhead mounting. See outline drawing (4280-001 on page D-1. 1) Separate the bracket frem the main body by loosening wo bracket fixing knobs. 2) Install the bracket on the selected place by fixing it with four woodscrews (#4.8 x 25) end washers supplied. For the overhead mounting, use hex. bolts, nuts and washers instead of woodscrews. 3) Mount the main body on the bracket. Wiring For the connection between A-O converter and gyrocompass, SC cable (250V-MPYCS~5 or equivalent) is required. For the connection between A-9 converter and radar north-up unit, satellite navigat‘on system, doppler sonar current indicator or scanning sonar steady picture display, etc. CO-SPEVW-SB-C 0.2sq, 5F cable is optianally supplied together with the latter equipment. Connect the A-D converter to the gyrocampass and the navigational equipments referring to interconnection diagran 4248-007 on page S-1. AP1-6 — FURUNIJI O— - Fabrication o* 5C Cable - 1) Cut the cable to the appropriate length. 2) Cut off the armor and sheath for approx. 120mm from the end of the cable, 3) Comb out the cores fron the braided shield. 4) Cut the shield leaving 10mm and solder it with earth wire. 5) Dress the end of armor, sheath and shield with vinyl tape. 6) Fit crimp-on lugs on each end of the core and earth wire. Note: Ground the armor thru the cable clamp. 250V-MPYCS-5 or equivalent ARNOR YOR | __120mm SHEATH CRIMP-oN Luc CLAMP ARMOR PART FOR GROUNDING, apl-7 - Fabrication of CO-SPEW-SB-C, 0.2sq. 5P Cable - 1) Cut the cable to the appropriate length. 2) Remove vinyl sheath for the “ength shown in the drawing with care not to cut armor, 3) Cut the armor leaving 40mm long and fold back it over the sheath, 4) Remove inner sheath with care not to cut braided shield. 5) Comb out cores from the shield with care not to untwist each pair of cores. 6) Fold back the braiced shield over the armor and cut it for the same length as armor remaining, 7) Dress the ends of ermor and braided shield with vinyl tape. 8) Fit the crimp-on lugs on each end of cores as shown below. Note: Ground the armor and shield through cable clanp. FABRICATION OF CO-SPEVV-SB-C 0.2s¢ xSP CABLE AT RADAR Max. APL-8 — FURUNO APPENDIX 2, INTERCHANGEABILITY BETWEEN PCBs OF AD-1OS AND AD-10 1, A-D Converter Board (Ref. to page AP2-2.) AD-10S AD-10 14P-0060 ————= 13-5019 The A-D converter board (14P-0060) of AD-10S can be used in AD-10 as well if the following modification is made on 14°-0060 board. (It is also possible to use the A-D converter board of AD-10 in AD-10S by reversing the following modification. } (1) Renove jumper wires connected at the positions of R37, R40 and R43, and put the carbon resistors (150K ohms, 1/4) at these positions. 2. Power Supply Board (Ref. to page AP2-2.) AL-108 AD-10 14-0062 ————-~ 13-5020 The power supply board (147-0062) of AD-10$ can be used in AD-10 as well if the following modification is made on 14P-0062 board. (It is also possible to use the power supply board of AD-10 in AD-10S ty reversing the following modification. ) (1) Remove the resistors R4, R5 and R6 (150K onms x 3) and connect jumper wires at the respective positions. (2) Remove the resistors 87, R& and R9 (22K ohms x 3). 3. Display Board (AD-10S: 14P-0061, AD-10: 13P-5021) The display board is not interchangeable each other. Notei When both the A-D converter and power supply boards are changec at the same time (AD-L0S~-—AD-LD), the ebove modificatior is not required.
