Warm-up
• There is no change in your posture when you walk backward
• In Latin-american dances your tip touches(controls) the floor in every step
Samba
Movement
• Samba rhythm can be counted as slow-and, slow-and etc.
• On slow your knees are both bent, on and your knees are both stretched
Figures
• Left/Right with backward step
o Done in position where you hold hands in front of each other
o Gentleman:
R, step back with left leg, but return to right leg on slow
L, step back with right leg, but return to left leg on slow
o Lady:
L, step back with right leg, but return to left leg on slow
R, step back with left leg, but return to right leg on slow

o Gentleman: the same as in Cross Step
o Lady:
R, L while turning clockwise, R while turning clockwise, C

o Gentleman:

Guidance
• In dancing in general gentleman is always the one who guides. ;-) Guiding is about
showing the lady what comes next. First you have to know it!
• In blues
o Basic Step and Cross Step – movement of your body is sufficient
o Turn – rise your left hand on first L and release your right hand
o Single Turn – put your left hand down on fist L with intention and release her
hand, release also your right hand

Description
• Latin-american dance
• 2/4 metre, count: 1,2 (usually one-and-two)
• Czech folk dance, still very popular
