Problem 1

A point source emitting at 550 nm wavelength is placed at 25mm from the lens L1. The lens L2,
with a focal length of 50 mm is placed at 100 mm from L1.

a) Design the L2 lens, supposing a material of index 1.5, so to obtain the best focus at 50
mm.
b) Estimate the MTF at the best focus plane of L2 using the design obtained in the
previous question.

Problem 2

The objective is to know the intensity at the plane P using an image sensor with a side length
of 5 mm. For this, the ideal lens L3 has been placed into the system.

a) Estimate the focal length and position of the lens L3. AS well as the distance from L3 to
the sensor, so the sensor can be used to estimate the intensity at the plane P.
b) Estimate the signal obtained at the sensor.

Note: Any lack of information on this test is intentional. The candidate can elaborate the
answers as much as they want.
