Tageszeitung = a newspaper which is published every day

Wochenzeitung = a newspaper that is published once a week

Boulevardzeitung/tabloid = a newspaper that usually has a very high circulation. The first of this type
used to only be purchased in the street (Boulevard). Features of the tabloid are big headlines, a lot
of pictures, flashy colors, bold headlines, short texts and some background information (scandals,
sports, celebrities ...)

Qualitätszeitung/quality newspaper = newspapers with objective and consistent reporting. These

newspapers research the facts they present to a great extent. They provide a lot of background
information and no deliberate evoking of emotions. The text-image relationship is contrary to tabloid
(no or few images).
