Series BM - for Optimised Total Economy

BM 200/150-40 pumping pulp with

a consistency of 13%. This
BM pump is installed in Sweden.

Range of
Applications
BM pumps are specifically designed to
handle the complete range of medium
consistency pulp. They can be used with
all types of pulp and on all medium
consistency applications.
The pumps were introduced in 1990
and have since then proven to be highly
efficient and reliable for pumping of me-
dium consistency pulp in many
installations.

Reliable
The robust construction of the pump is a
result of extensive testing together with
end users and a leading supplier of proc-
ess equipment.
The well proven ABS bearing assembly
will give a bearing life time of at least 50
000 hours, in most applications the rated
life of the bearings will easily exceed 100
000 hours. Low Energy Optimised Total

Shaft Seal
The shaft seal is a single mechanical seal
with a secondary labyrinth seal. It should
normally be provided with a external
sealing liquid for lubrication and flushing.

Pumping
ABS medium consistency pumps operate very similar to the ordinary stock pumps.
The BM series is, however, unique in its ability to handle the air in the pulp, which
increases as the consistency changes from the low consistency to the medium consi-
stency range.

Pulp flow in the pump

Medium consistency means high pipe
friction losses. In order to ensure that the
pulp enters the pump easily there are 5
some basic rules that have to be followed:

The positive suction

head must be adequate. 2
Minimise friction losses
by keeping the suction
pipe as short as possible.

As our BM pumps do not need any long,

auxiliary, impeller extension to create
turbulence into the stock chest, a stock
valve can be fitted between the chest and
the pump to facilitate service.
4

Air flow in the pump

The air bubbles adhering to the fibres are
separated in the pump because of high
pressure differences. The air will follow
the low pressure side of the vane and 3
gather behind the impeller, where the 7
lowest pressure occurs. To ensure undis-
turbed pumping, this air has to be remo- 8
ved. Our patented impeller with slots in
the back shroud on the low pressure side
of the vanes create a very efficient degas-
9
sing. This ensures cost-effective stock
transport.
