I love you all, you awesome people.
Can't wait to see the actual cover!
A steampunk book... Niiiice.
Note: this will clearly be the first book that everything in it will be minimum uncommon. It's even more
heavily themed than Secrets of Magic, and if it indicates what is coming in the future, I CANNOT
WAIT.
ANd yes, that's the perfect book to play in Alkenstar and the Mana Waste!
Oooh! my PFS character is already from there. Hope there's a couple of stuff with access that need
that nationality!!

That may not be the case. The playtest Gunslinger doesn't need to touch a firearm. May
not have access to all of the feats, but I'm excited to try it out with a crossbow.

The "redo" of PF1's androids is already confirmed to be in Lost Omens Ancestry Guide
coming out next month. So, these automatons are absolutely different. Furthermore, Michael Sayre
already mentioned a few posts above that the Automaton ancestry in this book can be used to play
Jistkan Automatons, which are quite different from the Androffan Androids to seem to be referencing.

Androids are coming out in Lost Omens Ancestry Guide. Automatons will be very
different, more like magitek constructs who can modify their bodies by doing things like slotting a
sword into their elbow instead of their forearm and hand.

Hey Warforged are completely different from automatons!
"Although the bodies of automatons are wonders in and of themselves, the true
technological marvels they bear are the automaton cores that power these constructs.
The secret to the creation of automaton cores has since been lost to time, but each core
contains a spark of consciousness from a particular individual, combined with a
significant portion of planar energy. These two components are merged using powerful magical
energy to form a core of seemingly limitless arcane potential that powers an automaton. This energy
courses throughout an automaton’s body, powering the construct and completing an internal
connection that allows the individual automaton’s consciousness to remain active. "
Also (champion), they (sharpshooter) are (stalker) cool (master) as heck! And warforged don't have
cool cyclops eyebeams ;P

The core book and general dev/designers commentary hint that these should mainly be
up to the player. They are, basically, just "fluff". Instead of an arm, you can have a prosthetic one if you
want. It change nothing much mechanically.
IMHO, I prefer this than to ask a player to pay gold to just be on par with other characters.
They also prefer to let GMs manage that for their groups because these things are delicate, and many
people have very diverging opinions on how it should be implemented, and instead of pleasing 1/4 of
people and hurt the rest, they know that the GMs are the best at getting the best solution for their
groups.

Yes. Yes. I can see why you wanted to keep this under wraps for three weeks. I saw
loads of speculation on what the new classes would be, and what that might mean for
the book. I saw plenty of gunslinger guesses, but nobody started guessing "inventor"
until we got a couple more crumbs. Also, I didn't see anybody guess that there would be
a tech book. I am as excited for this as I am for Secrets of Magic, and to have an

Yeah when I think automaton arm I think more along the lines of what starfinder has, a
prosthetic limb with a weapon inside that can pop out. I just like always having a weapon
available that can't really be taken, that's easy to hide, etc.

Horsefeathers. I was guessing there would be an inventor class way back in September. They've been
dropping hints since last July.
I also was hoping for a tech book last June, and became increasingly certain we would see one as
more Lost Omens stuff came out. Though I did assume the focus would be on items overall, not just
tech, so I'll take only partial credit there.

Fun fact: The picture used as a placeholder for the cover come from the very first book
released in the Lost Omen line... The Lost Omen World Guide... :O
(Page 75 if I remember correctly)
(Also, the constructs we see in it are clockwork automatons, coming as monsters in
Bestiary 3, and as an ancestry in this book!)
