 WHO IS ORGANISING MIND WARS SPELL BEE 2023 ?

Mind Wars Spell Bee 2023 is being organised by Mind Wars, India’s largest quizzing and knowledge
platform. Promoted by Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., the platform has over 3 lakh pieces of
content in 12 languages, including thousands of quizzes in general knowledge, school curriculum
across CBSC and over 20 state education boards, and current affairs updated daily.

Mind Wars successfully conducted a TV Quiz Show on Zee TV, hosted by Shreyas Talpade, and a
YouTube Quiz Show, hosted by Meiyang Chang. In 2021, Mind Wars organised India’s first ever
online + offline GK Olympiad, with prize money of Rs. 1 crore awarded. In 2021, Mind Wars
conducted a mega debate competition in Mumbai and surrounding areas. Over a hundred
schools took part in this hugely successful inaugural event.

In 2022, Mind Wars conducted the inaugural Mind Wars Spell Bee in Delhi and adjoining areas.
Over 6,000 students from 150+ schools participated in this event. The 3 finales, conducted by
noted commentator Charu Sharma, were telecast on YouTube.

Extending this contest to schools and students across the nation, we now present – Mind Wars
Spell Bee 2023.
 WHY SHOULD I TRUST MIND WARS ?

WHAT IS THE ELIGIBILITY FOR PARTICIPATION ?

Students from classes 4 to 9 (both inclusive) can participate in this contest. The Mind Wars Spell
Bee 2023 competition has 3 categories for participation:

Junior Middle Senior

Classes 4 & 5 Classes 6 & 7 Classes 8 & 9

WHAT ARE THE MAIN FEATURES ?

The Spell Bee aims to provide a platform for students to demonstrate their prowess in English. It
is both an exciting contest as well as a holistic activity that will help improve students’ grasp
over English- not just spelling words, but also to understand them, their usage, such that their
overall English fluency improves.

It will provide a chance for students to participate in a structured contest: at the school, city, and
national level. They stand to win fame and glory, in addition to grand cash prizes. The final rounds
will be recorded and broadcast on the Mind Wars YouTube channel. It is an opportunity to be the
best among millions of students across India.
 WHAT IS THE STRUCTURE ?

Mind Wars Spell Bee 2023 will be conducted in four distinct stages.

Stage 1: Students from a school register for the Bee. They will receive preparation material from
Mind Wars in the form of a curated word list complete with tests and tips, to help them prepare
for the first round, conveniently held in their own school.
The first round will be conducted in schools using customised test papers and audio notes pro-
vided by Mind Wars. Multiple dates for this test will be intimated to schools on registration. A
school can choose any one of these dates. The best 2 students from each category in a school
will qualify for the Inter-School Stage of Mind Wars Spell Bee 2023. If more than 2 students are
tied in first or second place from the same category in a school, all such high scoring students
will qualify to participate in the City Round.

Stage 2: Qualified students will match their spelling prowess with that of students from other
schools from their city/region. 20 such city rounds will be held from August to October 2023
across India.

The country has been divided into 8 clusters. The cluster-wise list of cities in which the inter-
school round will be held:

Stage 3: The third stage will be the cluster final where the top 8 students from each cluster
will compete in a stage final.

Stage 4: The fourth and final stage will be the national round where the cluster winners will
compete in a Grand India Finale!
 WHAT ARE THE PRIZES ON OFFER ?

Attractive cash prizes of over ₹ 10 lakhs will be awarded. ₹ 1,00,000, ₹ 50,000, ₹ 25,000 be

WHAT CERTIFICATES WILL BE AWARDED ?

All participants will be awarded e-certificates of participation.

School level winners and runners-up will be awarded a Certificate of Merit.

City finalists will receive a Certificate of Merit based on their final position in the City Round.

Cluster finalists will receive a Certificate of Merit based on their final position in the Cluster
Round.

National finalists will receive a Certificate of Merit based on their final position in the National
Round.

Mind Wars sees itself as a partner with schools. Certificates of Appreciation will be presented
to the Principal/ Teacher/ Coordinator.

PARTICIPATION FEE

There is a nominal participation fee of ₹ 300 per student, to be collected by the school. The fee
includes the cost of preparatory material, and covers all stages of the contest.
 HOW TO REGISTER ?

Like all Mind Wars programmes, the only way to participate is through the school. Interested
students should make the requisite payment to the school. The school will then register these
students with Mind Wars. Mind Wars will send preparatory material as soft copies to all registered
schools for distribution to participants well before the competitive rounds. Audio Notes to
conduct the rounds will also be shared by our team.

WHAT IS THE SCOPE / SYLLABUS ?

Mind Wars Spell Bee seeks to improve participants’ knowledge of English and its usage. Mind Wars
will provide a curated word list for each category. At least 50% words in the intra-school round
will be based on this list.

In the inter-school round, words will be chosen from easily accessible dictionaries like the Oxford/
Collins English Dictionaries. Some words will also be chosen from the Mind Wars Word Lists. British
English spellings will be accepted, as these are followed by education boards in India.

To assist in spelling words, contestants will be provided information like:

(a) Part of Speech
(b) Language of Origin
(c) Meaning
(d) Usage in a sentence or context
