First Aid

A Healing Cantrip for Fifth Edition D&D

By Ian Lambert-Brown

First Aid is a new healing spell that fills the gap between Healing Word, Cure Wounds, and Spare the
Dying. The intended application of it is that it speeds up your natural healing, so if you are totally burnt
out, you need real healing magic; this simply won't do by itself. If you choose to use First Aid in your
game, add it to the Bard, Cleric, and Druid spell lists.

invaluable input!

First Aid
Evocation Cantrip
Casting Time: 1 Action
Range: Touch
Components: V, S
Duration: Instantaneous

Choose one creature. That creature can spend a Hit

Die to regain hit points equal to 1d4 + your spell-
casting ability modifier. This ability does not work
on undead or constructs. The target must be willing
and conscious. If the target is unwilling or
unconscious, this spell fails.
The target can spend an additional Hit Die when
you reach 5th, 11th, and again at 17th level. For each
Hit Die the target spends, it regains hit points equal
to 1d4 + your spellcasting ability modifier.
