Unicorn Mandala
The Unicorn mandala pictured here is made using
DK/ 8 ply/ light worsted acrylic yarn and with a
3mm hook, it measures to be 40cm blocked and
stretched onto hoop. Another one I have made
(not pictured) was made using fingering/ 4 ply
cotton yarn with a 2.5mm hook and it measures
30cm. Blocking is suggested but not completely
necessary. I have used 6 colours in total but you
can pick and choose as much as you like.
Size: 15 rounds in total. The finished size of your mandala will vary depending on hook
and yarn as well as your tension. Almost any size yarn and hook will work so feel free to
get creative.
Materials required: Hook, yarn, scissors, embroidery needle, hoop (if mounting)
Stitch notes:
* Each round is started with a standing stitch or can be substituted with a chain stitch.
* I have made a colour change for each round, if not doing this, slip stitch to where you
need to be and begin with chain stitch.
* Anything written in bold is a stitch to be worked.

Mounting Instructions: There are many methods of mounting a mandala onto a hoop but
my preferred method is to cut a section of yarn about 15cm from the same yarn used on
the last round and tie each point onto the hoop using a regular double knot, make it as
tight as possible, slip the knot into the crochet piece at the back and sew the ends in.
If you are having an issues, research on YouTube methods of mounting.
