What is Rotary
ROTARY is an organization of business and

professional leaders united worldwide, who provide
humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards
in all vocations and help build goodwill and peace in the
world.
ROTARY is the world’s first service club. The first Rotary

Club was foundedin Chicago, Illinois, USA on 23rd
February 1905.
ROTARY is some 1.2 million service minded men and

women belonging to more than 34,000 Rotary Clubs in
virtually every nation in the world.
ROTARY is the Rotary Foundation, which each year

provides some US$ 100 million for international
scholarships, cultural exchanges and humanitarian
projects that improve the quality of life for thousands of
people. Rotary is regarded as the world’s largest private
provider of international educational scholarships.
ROTARIANS plan and carry out a remarkable variety

of humanitarian, educational and cultural exchange
programs that touch people’s lives in their communities
locally, regionally and worldwide.
ROTARY brings together people like you - leaders

from all cultures and occupations who want to use
their distinct expertise for the welfare of the community.
People whose sense of responsibilty inspires them to
give back to their communities. Who step forward to
tackle the toughest challenges - and persevere to create

Avenues of Service
Rotary’s five avenues of service are the philosophical and

practical framework for the work of a Rotary club.
Club service, the first avenue of service, involves action

a member should take within the club to help it function
successfully.
Vocational service, the second avenue of service, has the

purpose of promoting high ethical standards in businesses
and professions, recognizing the worthiness of all dignified
occupations, and fostering the ideal of service in the pursuit
of all vocations. The role of members includes conducting
themselves and their businesses in accordance with
Rotary’s principles.
Community service, the third avenue of service, comprises

varied efforts that members make, sometimes in conjunction
with others, to improve the quality of life of those who live
within the club’s locality or municipality.
International service, the fourth avenue of service.

comprises those activities that members do to advance
international understanding, goodwill, and peace by
fostering acquaintance with people of other countries,
their cultures, customs, accomplishments, aspirations, and
problems, through reading and correspondence and through
cooperation in all club activities and projects designed to
help people in other lands.
Youth service, the fifth avenue of service, recognizes the

positive change implemented by youth and young adults
through leadership development activities, involvement in
community and international service projects, and exchange
programs that enrich and foster world peace and cultural
understanding.

Rotary International Programs
Club Assembly — A meeting to discuss the club’s programs and activities.

Open to all club members.
District Conference — An annual motivational meeting that showcases
club and district activities. Open to all Rotarians in that district and their
families.
Interact — Service and social clubs for youth ages 12 to 18 that are
sponsored by Rotary clubs.
Polio Plus — The Rotary Foundation program focused on global polio
eradication efforts.
Rotaract — Service and social clubs for young adults ages 18 to 30 that
are sponsored by Rotary clubs.
Rotarian Action Groups — International groups of individuals who share
a passion for a humanitarian issue or service activity. An example is the
Water and Sanitation Rotarian Action Group.
Rotary Community Corps — Groups of non-Rotarians who work on
service projects for their communities. Organized and sponsored by Rotary
clubs.
Rotary Fellowships — International groups of individuals who share a
vocational or recreational interest. An example is the International Skiing
Fellowship of Rotarians.
Rl Convention — An annual celebration of Rotary and Rotarian
accomplishments, held in a different location around the world each year.
Open to all Rotarians and their families.
Rotary Peace Centers — Programs at several universities around the
world that offer advanced degrees and professional certificates in peace
and conflict resolution.
Rotary Peace Fellow — A recipient of a Rotary Foundation scholarship for
study at one of the Rotary Peace Centers.
Rotary Youth Exchange — A cultural exchange program for youth ages
15 to 19. Exchanges can last from one week to one year.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) — Leadership training and
recognition activities conducted by Rotary clubs or districts for youth and
young adults ages 14 to 30.

Core Values
Rotary adopted the core values in 2007 as part of the Rotary Strategic
Plan, understanding that these five values are fundamental traits of being
a Rotarian.
Rotary’s core values represent the guiding principles of the organization’s
culture, including what guides members’ priorities and actions within
the organization.
Service
We believe that our service activities and programs bring about greater
world understanding and peace. Service is a major element of our mission.
Through the plans and actions of individual clubs, we create a culture of
service throughout our organization that provides unparalleled satisfaction
for those who serve.
Fellowship
We believe that individual efforts focus on individual needs, but combined
efforts serve humanity. The power of combined efforts knows no limitation,
multiplies resources, and broadens our lives and perspectives. Fellowship
leads to tolerance and transcends racial, national, and other boundaries.
Diversity
We believe Rotary unifies all people internationally behind the ideal of
service. We encourage diversity of vocations within our membership and
in our activities and service work. A club that reflects its business and
professional community is a club with a key to its future.
Integrity
We are committed to and expect accountability from our leaders and fellow
members, both in the results of our efforts and in the processes we use
to accomplish our goals. We adhere to high ethical and professional
standards in our work and personal relationships. We are fair and
respectful in our interactions, and we conscientiously steward the
resources entrusted to us.
Leadership
We are a global fellowship of individuals who are leaders in their fields of
endeavor. We believe in the importance of leadership development and in
leadership as a quality of our members. As Rotarians, we are leaders in
implementing our core values.
All of these core values are reflected in The Object of Rotary and The
Four-Way Test, which we use in our daily lives. They inspire us to foster
and support the ideal of service for developing and maintaining high ethical
standards in human relations.

Classification Principle
By assigning each member a classification based on his or her business

or profession, this system ensures that the club’s membership reflects the
business and professional composition of its community. The number of
members holding a particular classification is limited according to the size
of the club. The goal is professional diversity, which enlivens the club’s
social atmosphere and provides a rich resource of occupational expertise
to carry out service projects and provide club leadership.
Declaration of Rotarians in
Businesses and Professions
The Declaration of Rotarians in Businesses and Professions was adopted
by the Rotary International Council on Legislation in 1989 to provide more
specific guidelines for the high ethical standards called for in the Object
of Rotary:
As a Rotarian engaged in a business or profession, I am expected to:
• Consider my vocation to be another opportunity to serve
• Be faithful to the letter and to the spirit of the ethical codes of my
vocation, to the laws of my country, and to the moral standards of my
community
• Do all in my power to dignify my vocation and to promote the highest
ethical standards in my chosen vocation
• Be fair to my employer, employees, associates, competitors, customers,
the public, and all those with whom I have a business or professional
relationship
• Recognize the honor and respect due to all occupations which are
useful to society
• Offer my vocational talents: to provide opportunities for young people,
to work for the relief of the special needs of others, and to improve the
quality of life in my community
• Adhere to honesty in my advertising and in all representations to the
public concerning my business or profession
• Neither seek from nor grant to a fellow Rotarian a privilege or advantage
not normally accorded others in a business or professional relationship

The mission of Rotary International is to support its
member clubs in fulfilling the Object of Rotary by:
• Fostering unity among member clubs
• Strengthening and expanding Rotary around the
world
• Communicating worldwide the work of Rotary
• Providing a system of international administration
Why wear a Rotary pin?
Recently, Rotarians around the world were asked this

question.
Reasons for wearing a pin varied: for publicity of Rotary,
for pride, for acceptance and recognition, and for the
start of easy conversation with other Rotarians wherever
you go.
Past Rl President Bob Barth (1993-94, from the Rotary
Club of Aarau, Switzerland) felt that a Rotary pin
says this about the wearer: “You can rely on me, I am
dependable, I am reliable, I give more than I take, and
I am available.”

all times of the day.

• Reviewing the Club President’s Manual and preparing for the

presidents-elect training seminar
• Serving as a director of your club’s board, performing
responsibilities prescribed bythe president or the board
• Reviewing your club’s strategic plan, using the elements of an
effective club as a guide
• Setting your club’s annual goals, which support long-range goals,
using the Rotary Club Central
– Assessing your Club’s membership situation
– Discussing and organizing service projects
– Identifying ways to support The Rotary Foundation
– Developing future leaders
– Developing a public relations plan
– Manning action steps to carry out your club’s administrative
responsibilities
• Working with your club and district leaders
– Holding one or more meetings with your board of directors;
reviewing the provisions of your club’s constitution and bylaws
– Supervising preparation of the club budget
• Ensuring continuity in leadership and service projects
– Appointing committee chairs
– Appointing committee members to the same committee for three
years to ensure continuity, when possible

Member Access in order to keep membership and club data current

your year in office, ensuring that all club members are involved
and informed
• Ensuring that each committee has defined goals
– Encouraging communication between club and district committee chairs
– Conducting periodic reviews of all committee activities, goals
and expenditures
– Serving as an ex-offico member of ail club committees
• Presiding at all meetings of the club
– Ensuring that all meetings are carefully planned
– Communicating important information to club members
– Organizing social events for members
• Preparing for and encouraging participation in club and district meetings
– Planning for and presiding at all monthly board meetings
– Ensuring the club is represented at the district conference and other
district meetings
– Promoting attendance at the annual Rl Convention

DISTRICT / CLUB PROTOCOL

At Rotary functions, officers should be addressed according to protocol
only once with spouses included at the time of introduction. Individuals
holding more than one office or past office, shall be ranked by the highest
current or past office held. After the recommended order of protocol above,
the following additional order of protocol is recommended and should be
modified to fit local customs and practice:

Rotary Foundation Grants
ln anticipation of The Rotary Foundation’s 100-year anniversary

in 2017, the Trustees set out to develop a plan to move the
Foundation toward its second century of service. The plan
reflects the desires and interests of Rotarians worldwide to give
the Foundation a more sustainable and visible impact in the
world. The plan is simple and flexible, allowing Rotarians to apply
for grants online.
The Future Vision Plan is intended to
• Simplify Foundation programs and processes consistent with
the mission
• Focus Rotarian service efforts where they will have the
greatest impact by addressing priority world needs that are
relevant to Rotarians
• Offer funding options to help achieve both global and local
goals
• Increase the sense of ownership at the district and club
levels by transferring more decisions to the districts and their
member clubs
• Advance understanding of the Foundation’s work and
enhance Rotary’s Public image
Grant Structure
To simplify the grant-making process, the Future Vision Plan
offers only two types of grants: Rotary Foundation District Grants
and Rotary Foundation Global Grants. Together, these grants
will allow clubs and districts to carry out a broad spectrum of
humanitarian and educational efforts, both locally and abroad.
District Grants
Rotary Foundation District Grants are block grants made to
districts to support activities that fit within the Foundation’s
mission. Districts can use these grants to fund scholarships,
support vocational teams, sponsor volunteer service, provide

disaster recovery assistance, and carry out community and
international service projects. District grants allow flexibility to
Rotarians in carrying out grant activities and are fully funded
through District Designated Funds.
Global Grants
Rotary Foundation Global Grants support larger projects with
sustainable, high-impact outcomes within the six areas of:
• Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
• Disease prevention and treatment •Water and sanitation
• Maternal and child health
• Basic education and literacy
• Economic and community development
Club and districts can either create their own global grant
project or sponsor packaged grants developed by The Rotary
Foundation in collaboration with strategic partners.
Club and district developed grants will receive a funding match
from the Foundation. Packaged grants will be fully funded by the
Foundation. The minimum total project cost for each global grant
is US$ 30,000. Rotarians can “develop a variety of global grant
activities that may take the shape of a humanitarian project,
a scholarship, a vocational training team, or any combination of
these activities.
• Humanitarian projects supporting the goals of the areas of
focus will produce measurable outcomes that will benefit
the targeted community long after grant funds have been
expended. In addition, the community, as well as the
sponsoring clubs districts, will be actively involved in all
stages of the project.
• Scholarships will support international, graduate-level study
for a term of one to four years. The scholar’s academic and
professional goals must further the goals of their selected
area(s) of focus.
• Vocational training teams will either provide or receive training
within the areas of focus. Team size and composition, as
well as professional background, are variable; however,
each participant’s career goals must be linked to the area(s)
of focus.

1. It is mandatory to subscribe to either “The Rotarian” or the approved regional
magazine.
2. The exchange rate is evaluated on monthly basis. Current Rate can be
obtained from the Rotary Web site “www.rotary.org”.
3. Suspension/ Termination of Club: Six months after the 1st January or 1st July
deadline, clubs with unpaid per capita R.l. dues over US$ 250 are terminated.
4. Reinstatement: Within 90 days of termination, the clubs must pay all financial
obligations to R.I. and a US$10/member reinstatement fee for a minimum
of 10 members. More than 90 days after termination, the club must pay all
financial obligations to R.l. and a US$10/member reinstatement fee (for a
minimum of 10 members), complete a reinstatement application, and pay an
additional & 15 member application fee (for a minimum of 10 members).
5. More than 365 days after termination, the club loses its charter and is not
eligible for reinstatement.

Sanjay Khanna hails from a family of

lawyers. He did his schooling from St.
Xavier’s School, Delhi where he had the
distinction of representing India at the World
Jamboree of Boy Scouts held in Japan. He was also conferred with the
President’s Scout citation by the President of India. He was actively involved
in theatre and elocution, a passion that still continues.
Having strong legal roots embedded in him, he graduated in Law and

then completed his Chartered Accountancy from the Institute of Chartered
Accountants of India.
Sanjay is a senior partner of M/s Ghosh Khanna & Co (GKC), Chartered

Accountants, rendering professional services in the field of Corporate tax,
Assurance and Business Advisory Services etc. GKC has national presence
having branches in major metres. GKC is also an associate of GMN
International, UK and of Enterprise Network Inc., USA, both being leading
Global Networks of Independent Accounting & Consulting Firms Worldwide.
He also runs a company which is engaged In providing HR, BPO and

Management Services Pan India to domestic and multinational corporates.
Sanjay joined Rotary in the year 1996 and is a member of the Rotary Club
of Delhi South East. He went on to lead his club as the President In the year
when his club became the Governor’s Home club in the year 2001.
Thereafter, he involved himself actively in the District. He has chaired several

District Organizing Committees over past many years. Apart from being an
integral part of the District Core Teams in all these years, Sanjay has had
the distinction of being The Chairman of the District Conference for six
consecutive years.

Having always served with zeal n passion, he has been recognized and
accorded various honors by the District in several years. Some of the prime
recognitions that came his way were being declared as the Best President
of the District in 2001-02, the Best Rotarian of the District in 2003-04, other
than being a recipient of several other District Trophies like Distinguished
Service Award, Excellence In Leadership and Serving with Passion. A
people’s man - his sincerity and dedication saw him being elected in 2012
as the District Governor for RY 2014-15 which gave a reason to one and all
to celebrate Rotary!
Going beyond the District, Sanjay has chaired several Committees at the
South Asia Goodwill Summit in the Year 2006-07, the Rl Institute of Zones 4
& 6 held in Agra in 2008-09 and the Rl Institute held at Hyderabad in 2012 etc.
Even though Sanjay spent a lot of time in District activities, his roots with his
club remained strong. He has been the Club Trainer or Advisor to the Board
for the past ten years.
Reena, his wife, has been his inspiration and a source of immense strength,
in walking together with him at all times. Reena went to school at Convent of
Jesus and Mary, New Delhi and then graduated in Economics Honours from
Miranda House. Presently, she is actively involved in promoting and imparting
informal education to that strata of society for whom formal education is a
distant dream.
Sanjay and Reena are Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation. They have
two sons, both having graduated from the US. Rohan, the elder son, is now
an Investment Banker in New York and the younger son Raghav is working
as a Business Consultant with Deloitte in Chicago.

Sudhir Mangla belongs to a family of

professionals having deep belief in ethical
values. He is a down to earth person
owing to his simple upbringing and family
background. He did his schooling from St. Xavier’s School, Delhi. Having a
passion and strong desire to become a self made entrepreneur, he joined
Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University and did his graduation.
Thereafter, he did LLB from Faculty of Law, Delhi University.
He worked very hard to make his dream come true and became a very
successful entrepreneur. He established a reputed marketing organization
specializing in engineering and material handling equipments. Then he
never saw back and expanded his trading activities, added various products
and branches.
Today he is the Chairman of Mangla Hoists Pvt Ltd, a very reputed

organization enjoying excellent name and goodwill in the field of marketing
and manufacturing of cranes and hoists etc. From a very modest beginning
of trading in material handling equipments, today by virtue of his personal
qualities, vision, perseverance, patience and hard work he has risen and
established manufacturing units at Noida, Greater Noida and offices at Asaf
Ali Road and Nehru Place, New Delhi.
Sudhir joined Rotary in the year 1990 and is a member of Rotary Club of Delhi
Lutyens. Served as Club President in 1996-97. He won various awards for his
achievements at club level as well as district level, Including Outstanding club
President Award, Best club Fellowship Award, Best Board Member Award,
Best Rotarian award 2011-12, 2012-13, Club Trainer 2008-09,2012-13. He
organized Short Term Exchange Program of 20 students from Switzerland
and Germany, hosted GSE team 2002-03.

He was Chairman of District Assembly during 1995-96 even before becoming
a president. He has been passionate and dedicated towards Polio eradication
and worked at various positions for many years. He was selected as GSE
team leader in 2001-02 to USA. He was also Assistant Governor Meets in
2002-03 and won the Star Assistant Governor Award. He also chaired various
important committees. He was Treasurer and Secretary Rotary Alumni District
3010. He has been a member to RI Convention, Bangkok 2012, RI South Asia
Summit, Hyderabad 2012-13, RI Convention, Sydney 2014.
Sudhir is also very actively involved with other social activities like Chairman
Membership Committees- All India Aggarwal Sammelan, Chief Patron - All
India Vaish Federation, Executive President - Confederation of Delhi Apartment
Owners, Leader of Trade Delegation of Business Pioneers to South Korea
from India, China, Vietnam and Kuwait. He was selected as delegate by
Spanish Govt. to International Trade Fair at Zaragoza, Spain.
He is married to Sunita, a post graduate from Delhi University. Sudhir &

Sunita are Major Donors to The Rotary Foundation. Sunita has been the proud
winner of Best R’Anne Award 1993-94. She has been a very persistent and
motivating factor for Sudhir’s success. He is blessed with two sons - Nishant
and Vaibhav, both Rotarians. Both are engineers and MBAs, well settled and
very successfully growing the family business of cranes manufacturing, sowed
by Sudhir at a modest level. He is also blessed with four grandchildren, three
of them school going.

president of Malayan Overseas Insurance Co. and chair of Taiwan Sogo Shinkong
Security Co. Ltd.
A Rotarian since 1976, Huang has served RI as vice-president, director, Foundation
trustee, International Assembly group discussion leader, regional session leader, task
force member and coordinator, committee member and chair, and district governor.
He also was chair of the 2014 International Assembly Committee; adviser for the
Permanent Fund Committee for Taiwan, Macau, and Hong Kong; and PolioPlus
advocacy adviser for Taiwan.
He has been instrumental in membership development throughout Asia. As a
Rotary Foundation trustee, Huang set the goal of recruiting 100 new Major Donors
in Taiwan to celebrate Rotary’s centennial; the result was the addition of 106 Major
Donors in 2005 and 103 in 2006, who contributed more than $2 million to the
Foundation’s Annual Fund.
Huang wrote about his experiences in business and Rotary in his book, “Finding
Solutions, Not Excuses.” He received the Civic Service Award of the Federation
of Non-Profit Associations and the Outstanding Community Service Award from
Taiwan’s Ministry of the Interior. In 2001, when the Rotary International Convention
was held in San Antonio, Texas, USA, he was named the city’s honorary mayor.

K.R. “Ravi” Ravindran is CEO and founder

of a publicly listed company with a worldwide
clientele in the tea packaging industry. His
company, Printcare Plc, is the winner of national
and international awards of excellence. He also serves on the board of several
other companies and charitable trusts. He is the founding president of the Sri Lanka
Anti-Narcotics Association.
A Rotarian since 1974, Ravindran has served RI as treasurer; director; Foundation
trustee; committee member, vice chair, and chair; task force member; RI training
leader; and district governor.
As his country’s national PolioPlus chair, Ravindran headed a task force consisting
of the government, UNICEF, and Rotary and worked closely with UNICEF to
successfully negotiate a ceasefire with the northern militants during National
Immunization Days. He also chaired the Schools Reawakening project, sponsored
by Rotary clubs and districts in Sri Lanka, to rebuild 25 tsunami-devastated schools
to benefit 15,000 children.

known as PTP is one of the youngest ever
Rotarians to be elected district Governor in Rl
District 3230. PTP is an Electrical Engineer, and
is the Managing Director of PT POWER GEAR (PVT) LIMITED, who are distributors
for Siemens which make Switch Gears and Motors.
He joined the Rotary Club of Madras Central in 1983 and was Club President in
’88-’89. He was elected Governor of the District 3230 for the Rotary Year ’96-’97.
PTP started the first ever Rotary Center in Madras, which provides a common
meeting place for7 clubs.
During ’96-’97, as Governor of District 3230, PTP planned and executed several
outstanding projects.
He is the recipient of Rotary’s highest award for service “Service Above Self Award”.
He is the recipient of “Citation For Meritorious Service”. He is the recipient of
“Distinguished Service Award” the highest award given by the Rotary Foundation.
PTP is a Charter member of GNBD (Global Network of Blood Donors) an Rl
approved Rotarian Action Group, with 960 Rotarians from different parts of the
world as members. For 2010-12, PTP served as The President of Global Network
for Blood Donation. For Rotary year 2007-08, PTP served as “Member of the 2008
Los Angeles Convention Promotion Committee”.
PTP and Nalini are Major Donors to the Rotary Foundation, and have represented the
Rl President, in the Conference of District 3050, in 1998. PTP and Nalini represented
Rl President at the Conference of District 5260, Los Angeles, USA, in May 2008.
PTP is an excellent speaker and has addressed several clubs, Conferences and
Foundation Seminars in India and USA. He has addressed the GETS / DGN
Seminars, at Rotary Institutes at Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin (India) and
Bangkok (Thailand), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Manila (Philippines), Jakarta
(Indonesia) and Singapore.
PTP is happily married to Nalini who has done her masters in Dietics and is a
director of PT Power Gear (P) Ltd. Nalini was the District Chairman of Inner Wheel
District 323 for the year 2001-02. PTP and Nalini are blessed with 2 sons, who are
Engineers, working in India and the UK.

He is a Spine Surgeon, practicing at Baroda for 3 decades. He has been a life

member for Baroda Medical Association, Indian Medical Association as well as
Spine Surgeons Association of India. His spouse Dr. Sharmishtha is a reputed
Radiologist, practicing in Baroda. Both are Major Donors, Benefactors and Bequest
Society Members. Both their sons Sapan & Neil are settled in USA and the entire
Desai family is PHF.
He has been awarded Meritorious Services Award and Distinguished Service Award
of the Rotary Foundation. He is also awarded Service Above Self Award.
He belongs to a Doers Tribe, which reflects in his action like rebuilding 2 villages
after 2001 Gujarat Earthquake under his Chairmanship. He has also performed
3256 Polio Corrective Surgeries free of charge in the last 3 decades. Recently he
was awarded “JEWEL OF BARODA AWARD”.
Manoj is a firm believer of “Innovate or Evaporate”, which is amply evident in his

professional as well as Rotary Career.

He has been strongly supporting the programs of The Rotary Foundation, is a

He has organized and addressed numerous assemblies, inter-cities and seminars

the Paul Harris Society.
For his services to Rotary he received the Regional Service Award for a Polio-Free
World in 2013-14, The Rotary Foundation Citation for the Meritorious Services in
2009-10, RI Membership Development Extension Award in 2009-10, RI Vocational
Service Leadership Award in 2009-10, Radha Krishan Dhingra Trophy for being the
Best Rotarian of the District in 2005-06, Chaman Lal Gupta Trophy Distinguished
Service Award for selfless efforts for the promotion of TRF in 2000-2001 and
Outstanding President Award in 1996-97.
He has represented R.I. President 2012-13 Sakuji Tanaka as his Personal
Representative at the District Conference of R.I. District 3280, Dhaka, Bangladesh
in February 2013.
Ashish is the District Trainer for2014-15 and has been recently selected to represent
R.I. District 3010 at the Council on Legislation in 2016.

Services Pvt. Ltd. (GKCM) engaged in consulting and Business Process Outsourcing
(BPO). He is the Asia Pacific regional head of GMN International, a global association

As you all prepare to embark upon this historic journey of being leaders of your clubs
or at the District level, let us remember that being a part of this wonderful family of
Rotary is a unique experience in itself………. infact, this opportunity of leading your
clubs is indeed a very special privilege…..! Being a Rotarian, we have reach to such
a wide circle of friends, who in a very short time, become more than a family to us.
Rotary also provides us with a wonderful platform to serve society which others
may not have access to, despite the best resources available.
Such is the magic at Rotary that each year blends so subtly into the new year,
irrespective of leaders that may come and go. The spirit lives on, with new goals,
new initiatives and new leadership….. the way you all are now going to don the
mantle of leadership in your clubs and in the District. This is an opportunity that not
many are privy to, so don’t let go and do have fun living every moment, in service
to society and making a difference where it matters most……

Rotary Greetings!
It is my pleasure to express my profound gratitude to each member of our great
District for making my dreams come true to reach out and serve the society with
love. Joining Rotary has been a fantastic experience. We have walked many miles
together but we still have many miles to go, until our dream come true to make
vision of Rotary a Reality.
I Joined Rotary in 1990 and a lifetime seems to have gone by in this journey of service
which has been so fruitful and satisfying. God has been kind to us. Blessed are we
who give out of compassion and blessed are those who receive. We Rotarians must
look out for more and more opportunities and avenues to serve, may it be health,
education, employment, women empowerment. Each one of us has to contribute
to make Rotary dreams come true by giving whole self and soul with dedication to
achieve Rotary motto of “Service above Self”.
Friends, we must not forget that we can make a difference in our society. We
Rotarians have done and shown to the World that our participation could make
India “Polio Free”. After eradication of polio now Rotary’s main focus is to eradicate
illiteracy and make our country 100% literate by 2017.
I feel that illiteracy is the root cause of most problems faced by our country. May
it be social, economic or political problem like- poverty, unemployment, health,
population growth, women empowerment, last but not the least child education. Let
us put together our energies to reach out and serve with love. With our commitment,
dedication and conviction we can meet this challenge with grand success.
Having seen the District events so successfully and meticulously planned and
executed by D.G Sanjay Khanna and Reena, I have no doubt that under his
charismatic leadership our district shall achieve greater heights in all segments. I
assure D.G Sanjay and Reena and all my fellow Rotarians that Sunita and I shall
do our utmost to take our District to even higher heights.
