    During the past quarter century, the development of search engines has revolutionized how people find information online. The first search engine, Archie, was created in 1990 at McGill University and used FTP to locate files across the internet. Mark McCahill then developed Gopher in 1991 as another early search engine using FTP. The first essential search engine using the web was created in 1993 by Oscar Nierstrasz and called W3 catalog. JumpStation, released the same year, was the first to combine crawling, indexing, and searching capabilities. Yahoo became one of the earliest web crawlers with global reach in 1994.

    on the Internet. So that led to increasing the number of web pages. The search
    engine was used to find information on the specific site by using file transfer
    protocol (FTP). In 1990, the first search engine was Archie that was invented by
    McGill University in Montreal, Canada. In 1991, Mark McCahill created the new tool
    which was called Gopher. Both Archie and Gopher were used file transfer protocol
    (FTP) to work. In 1993, the field of search engines was changed because the first
    essential of the search engine was created by Oscar Nierstrasz at the University of
    Geneva in Switzerland. That search engine was called W3 catalog. Also, in 1993, the
    Department of Computer Science at the University of Stirling in Scotland released
    JumpStation that combined between three essential elements of the web search
