Public Services Task 3a- The Cardiovascular and Respiratory Systems Aims and Objectives You must be able

e to explain the flow of blood through the heart, e.g. into the right atrium via the vena cava etc. You must be able to name the 4 chambers of the heart You must be able to name the 4 valves of the heart You must be able to name the blood vessels which carry blood to and from the heart e.g. vena cava, pulmonary artery, pulmonary vein and aorta You must explain the process of gaseous exchange at the alveoli You must be able to identify the major structural areas of the respiratory system You must be able highlight the basic processes of inspiration and expiration How will the assessment take place? You will be asked to think of a practical example using gym equipment to show understanding of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems You will then be asked to explain the process of blood flow around the heart using the information above You must then explain how gaseous exchange occurs in the lungs and how we breathe in and out (Inspiration and Expiration) You will be questioned at the end of the assessment to test knowledge or fill in any gaps
