08 BEYOND BBA
COMPULSORY GLOBAL IMMERSION FOR BBA & BBA(ACC) NUS GRADE FREE SCHEME

The Grade-free Scheme seeks to allow students to transit into university life
academically and socially so as to reduce students’ anxiety towards grades.

As students will have the option not to factor their grades for that semester
into their Grade Point Average (GPA), the grade-free scheme will allow
students to achieve a more holistic education experience that transcends
academic results.

https://bba.nus.edu.sg/academic-programmes/general-academic-matters/grade-free-scheme/

DESIGN-YOUR-OWN-MODULE (DYOM)

An integral part of the business curriculum is for students to gain

valuable international experience. Students who participate in the
exchange programme have the opportunity to experience a
different learning environment. This experience will also enable
them to develop an awareness and appreciation of other cultures,
as well as broaden their outlook and approach to doing business.

Refer to the ‘Global and Experiential’ segment of the brochure to find out more!

Highly motivated students with an interest in two complementing disciplines

may consider the Double Degree Programme (DDP). BBA students may
choose from the following options:

Accountancy and Real Estate students may also pursue the above options
through the ad-hoc arrangement.*

CONCURRENT DEGREE PROGRAMME FOR BBA & BBA (ACC)

The Concurrent Degree Programme (CDP) is similar to the

Double Degree Programme in duration. However, in a DDP, the
student is awarded two Bachelor degrees upon graduation, but
for a CDP, the student is awarded a Bachelor and a Masters
degree upon completion. A student may choose from the
following options:

GENERAL EDUCATION
Regardless of the choice of major, there is a broad range of knowledge, abilities,
predispositions and attitudes that NUS expects of a university graduate, collectively serving
as the hallmark of higher education. General Education (GE) connects disciplinary
knowledge and perspectives with the skills needed for lifelong learning beyond the
university.

To satisfy the University Level Requirements for GE, students are required to read one GE

18 CAREER PREPARATION
FIELD SERVICE PROJECT

The Field Service Project (FSP) course is a team based project course for Business School
Honours students only. The purpose of FSP is to provide students a true learning
experience and opportunity to partner with an established organisation in Singapore.
Students get to learn directly from the leaders/CEOs and their businesses while engaging
in real-world business issues beyond what they have already learned in NUS.

Students get to learn about an organisation's business model, value propositions,

operations and imbibe the entrepreneurial passion and leadership from the CEO/leaders.
It is also an excellent networking platform for students to get acquainted with people from
different organisations, business backgrounds, skills, expertise, etc. In return, students will
provide an informative and diagnostic report (with the guidance of a supervisor) to the
organisations to help propel the organisations forward in today’s challenging business
environments. Through these projects, we hope the students are able to gain a new
perspective into the real world.

https://bba.nus.edu.sg/academic-programmes/generalacademic-matters/field-service-project/

WORK STUDY INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME (WSIP)

NUS Business School’s WSIP is one of the latest experiential learning initiatives
for Business Students. WSIP is a long-term, credit bearing work-cum-study
programme customised in partnership with professional and commercial
organisations. While they pursue classroom-taught courses simultaneously, WSIP
participants will be involved in structured work arrangements with host
organisations throughout a significant part of their candidature.

Through WSIP, students do not only interact with workplace mentors and gain
wide exposure to the discipline of their interest, but may also experience
progressive stipend, job rotation, and be offered accelerated entry-level career
options upon graduation.

ENTREPRENEURIAL
Fully embracing the entrepreneurial culture amongst the younger generation, the curriculum is designed both to bring out the
entrepreneurial spirit in students, and facilitate the generation of new business ideas.

ENTREPRENEURIAL 23
WHAT IS

ENTREPRENEURSHIP?
Entrepreneurship is one of the newer specialisations in NUS Business School. This specialisation will furnish our students with broad theoretic lenses to lead change effectively,
whether in an entrepreneurial venture or a large multinational corporation. Students from previous batches have started their own businesses, some of which have been successful
in Singapore like Carousell, Playmoolaha and Moovaz.

As mentioned on Page 13, there is also the NUS Overseas College (NOC) programme that aims to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of students. During the programme, students
intern in a technology-based start-up company and take up courses part-time in reputable universities.

My NOC experience so far has been great! Breaking up my "best parts"

into personal and professional:

Professionally - My internship experience at my company, Mavennet,

has been beyond great. Prior to joining, I had no knowledge of
blockchain and very limited knowledge about the tech world in
general. When I got the offer to join Mavennet, a blockchain venture
studio, I remember feeling very daunted by the idea of it. Eventually, I
decided to accept the offer and I am thankful that I did. Working in a
blockchain and tech company, I gained knowledge about the industry
and the technology purely from my own work and the conversations I
had with my colleagues. Admittedly, I am unsure if I would have
educated myself specifically on blockchain otherwise. My company has
also been very nurturing and has provided me multiple opportunities
to learn and lead. I was never limited by my title of an "intern" and
I have gotten the opportunity to do some impactful stuff.

Personally - Living abroad has always been a dream of mine but I

knew it came with its own set of challenges. Having the opportunity
to do so with a strong foundation (my NOC friends and programme
director) has really made navigating the challenges a lot easier. I really
enjoyed the thought-provoking but fun conversations that arose
Winnie Kyaw, Year 3 Business Student who went for NOC Toronto, pictured with both co-founders of purely from being in this environment and being surrounded by
