OPENING HYMN
“God You’re so Good" By Passion
Amazing love
That welcomes me
The kindness of mercy
That bought with blood, wholeheartedly
My soul undeserving
I am blessed, I am called
I am healed, I am whole
I am saved in Jesus' name
SCRIPTURE READING
Psalm 147:3-7
3 He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.
4 He determines the number of the stars
and calls them each by name.
5 Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
his understanding has no limit.
6 The LORD sustains the humble
but casts the wicked to the ground.
7 Sing to the LORD with grateful praise;
make music to our God on the harp.
REFLECTION
Psalm 147 verses 3-7 is a beautiful psalm that praises God for his goodness and provision. God
is always worthy of praise, including his power and knowledge, his care for the brokenhearted,
and his sovereignty over all creation.
One of the key themes of this psalm is God's care for his people. The psalmist notes that God
"heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds", this is a reminder that even in times of
difficulty and hardship, God is present and actively working on behalf of his people.
Another important theme in this psalm is the power and sovereignty of God. God "counts the
number of the stars" and "gives to all of them their names", demonstrating his intimate
knowledge of all creation.
Psalm 147:5 says, "Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond
measure." This verse reminds us of the greatness and power of God. It emphasizes that our God
is not only powerful, but He is also full of understanding and knowledge.
When we look at the world around us, we can see the evidence of God's power and greatness.
From the vastness of the universe to the intricacies of the human body, we can see the
handiwork of a mighty God. But this verse also reminds us that God's understanding is beyond
measure. This means that there is no limit to God's knowledge and wisdom. He knows
everything about us, and He understands our thoughts and feelings, even when we cannot
express them ourselves.
Verse 6 encourages us to embrace humility in our lives. It reminds us that the way up is often
down. In other words, it is when we lower ourselves before God that He can lift us up to higher
places. It also encourages us to avoid wickedness and to pursue righteousness. God is just, and
He will ultimately bring down those who persist in wickedness.
Lastly, verse 7 encourages us to use our talents and abilities to glorify God. Whether we are
skilled musicians or simply enjoy singing in the shower, we can use our love for music to honor
God and serve His Kingdom.
SHARING OF THOUGHTS
Psalm chapter 147 verses 3-7 remind us of how powerful and might God is. It reminds us to be
faithful to Him and be humble, to treat each other right and not to stray into wickedness. It
reminds us that God will heal us and that He cares for us. It reminds us to praise the God
Almighty for He is All Knowing and All Powerful.
CLOSING HYMN
“Good God Almighty" By Passion
I can't count the times I've called Your name some broken night
And You showed up and patched me up like You do every time
I get amnesia, I forget that You keep coming around
Yeah, ain't no way You'll ever let me down (me down)
You say Your love goes on forever, that Your mercy never stops
So why would I assume You'd be somebody that You're not
Like sun in the morning, I know You're gonna be there every day
So what on earth could make me be afraid? (Afraid)
CLOSING PRAYER
Great and mighty God, we come before you with hearts full of gratitude and mouths
filled with praise. You are the Creator of the universe, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and
the end. You are the one who sustains all things, and without you, nothing would exist. We
praise you for your power and your might, for your wisdom and your love. Your power is
beyond measure, and your wisdom is unfathomable. We praise you for your love and your
mercy, for your grace and your kindness. You are the one who forgives our sins and heals our
brokenness. We offer this prayer of praise to you, Mighty God, knowing that you are worthy of
all honor and all glory. We give you thanks for all that you have done and all that you continue
to do.
Amen.
