Dubai

History

Built in the 18th century as a small fishing and pearling village, the city grew from the
desert with a focus on tourism and luxury, considering that people who lived there
discovered that place was a source for metallic goods and they also had big oil
reserves, which provided fast development.

Present day

Nowadays, Dubai is the most populated city of the seven Emirates of the United Arab
Emirates (UAE), with a population around 3.5 million, having the second most
five-star hotels and the tallest building in the world. It’s seen as an example of a
developed city all over the world with its striking architecture.

Culture

There are several museums and galleries in Dubai, like the Dubai Museum in the Al
Fahidi Fort. Dubai is also known for its poetry and dance culture, in addition to his art,
which is full of Arabic surprises with a mix of cultures and peoples.

Activities

Considering that Dubai is a country located in a place with very different climatic
characteristics, due to the fact that it has a desert, for example, it is possible to
experiment very interesting things there, like practicing camel racing or equestrian
sports. You also can see there the tallest building in the world, that has a wonderful
and modern shopping mall, or you can even go skydiving or on a cruise past the Dubai
Fountain and see how beautiful Dubai is.
