Watu - Smart Contacts

Watu is a smart contact management system that keeps the users' contact information up to
date and organized in real-time. Users connect to one another using their phone numbers, and
then share some amount of their own contact information with one another based on the
level of their relationship.

Watu is designed to solve two problems:

1) How do you collect someone’s contact information when you meet them for the
first time? Most methods that people use today (writing down a phone number, trying
to manually create a new contact in a phone, or just texting them from your own
phone) don’t allow you to capture very much information - usually just a phone number
and maybe a (poorly-spelled) name.

2) How do you keep all your contacts’ information up to date as it evolves over time?
People get new jobs with new email addresses, new phone numbers, and move to new
addresses all the time.

With Watu, all you have to do is put in someone’s phone number and send them a connection
request. When they respond, you’ll be sharing all the contact information you’ve chosen to
share with one another, including your correctly-spelled names, phone numbers, email
addresses, social media accounts, and more.

Plus, Watu will keep this information up to date in real-time as people’s information changes
over time. And it’s all synchronized with your device’s native contacts app, and backed up to
the cloud, so you always have the latest information in all the places you expect it to be.

Watu is a full-featured contact management solution. In addition to keeping your contacts
updated in real-time, the app helps you keep your existing contacts cleaned up and organized.

● Automatically detects duplicate contacts and helps you merge them without losing
anything important
● Allows you to tag your contacts with helpful skills, traits, hobbies, or other identifying
remarks. You can even share your own tags with the people you connect with so they
know what you’re all about.
● Automatically organizes your contacts into groups based on company, location, tags,
and more.
● Allows you to build your own groups of contacts any way you like.
● Keeps you connected to all your friends’ social media networks.
● Allows you to see more than just a name on your main contacts list. Configure it to
 show their job title, company, tags, location, and more, right on the main list.

TARGET AUDIENCE
Generally, we believe the primary user of Watu is going to be business professionals,
especially those who have many hundreds of contacts in their phones and who routinely
network and meet new people. These users are often interested in staying current with their
clients’ and business associates’ changing contact information, keeping track of family
contacts, and spending as little time as possible manually managing their contact info.

That said, we also believe Watu is a useful tool for anyone in any walk of life. Everyone has a
smartphone, and everyone has contacts whose data changes regularly, so anyone could find
utility in one or more of Watu’s features.
