Pilot ladder: The pilot ladder shall be prepared in accordance with SOLAS Regulation V/23 & IMO Resolution A.1045 (27). It shall be rigged on the ship’s lee side one meter (three feet) above the water. 2. Lighting: Adequate lighting shall be provided to illumi- nate the ladder. 3. Speed: The normal boarding speed is 7 to 8 knots. It may, however, be varied as requested by the pilot depending on the weather condition or other reasons. 4. Good lee A good lee must be provided appropriately to allow pilot to board the ship safely. oO0o00 PILOT Bay Pilot boats : Orange hull, white superstructure Harbor Pilot boats : Black hull, white superstructure Pilot Ladder Responsible officer in contact with Bridge by a transceiver should attend for embarking or disembarking pilots. 1. The pilot office is open round the clock. If there is any change in ETA, kindly update without delay. E-mail: operation@osakawanpilot.jp NOTE: Waiting charge Amendment of pilotage service must be made at least 4 hours before the ETA originally notified. If a pilot is detained for more than 30 minutes after the time originally requested, a waiting fee shall be applied for each additional 30 minutes. 2. VHF Communication (1) The vessel can contact“OSAKA BAY PILOT” through VHF Ch. 16 The vessel is requested to monitor Ch. 16 for calls from OSAKA BAY PILOT. (2) The vessel can directly contact a pilot boat through Ch. 16 within approx. 15 miles of the pilot station. Prohibition and Restriction on Vessels' Traffic in Osaka Area The Captain of Hanshin Port has prohibited and restricted the traffic of vessels since March, 2010. The prohibited and restricted areas are indicated as below: @ area : Entry Prohibited Only vessels of less than 500 gross tons are permitted to enter the Entry Prohibited area of Osaka Ku section 6. © area : Navigation restricted 28 * Any vessel intending to enter or leave the restricted area shall keep clear of other vessels navigating the restricted area and navigate with caution, “A vessel shall not, except in any of the following cases, anchor or release a vessel towed within the restricted area. 1. In a case where a vessel intends to avert an accident; I. In a case where a vessel is engaged in rescue of human life or a vessel in imminent danger, Tl. In a case where a vessel is under the permission of the Captain of the Port; + When two vessels are meeting on reciprocal courses within the restricted area, each shall pass on the starboard side of the area.
