• About the Diploma in Computer Systems Engineering:


The diploma in computer systems engineering is primarily designed to provide adequate theoretical
background with industry inclined hands-on experiences. Furthermore, this qualification aims to
provide students with strong skills in programming, electronics, databases and process control.
This qualification has merged fields such as Embedded systems, Programming, Artificial Intelligence,
Control systems, Intelligent systems, Machine learning, Automation, robotics, Communication
systems, the Internet of Things and more to create a well-rounded, modern computer systems
engineering student.
• Admission requirements
For mainstream programme (3 years):
Level 4 for English (home language or first additional language), 5 for Mathematics or Technical
Mathematics and 4 for Physical Sciences or Technical Sciences.
To be considered for this qualification, applicants must have an Admission Point Score (APS) of
at least 26 (with Mathematics or Technical Mathematics). Life Orientation is excluded for APS
calculation.
For extended programme (4 years):
Level 3 for English (home language or first additional language) and 4 for Mathematics or Technical
Mathematics and 3 for Physical Sciences or Technical Sciences.
Applicants who achieve the minimum APS of 23 will be considered. Applicants with a score of 21
(with Mathematics or Technical Mathematics) will be added to a waiting list.
