INTRODUCTION
The girl child is particularly impacted by global violence. Although there have
been numerous international legal frameworks established over the years to
protect girls, there are still thousands of horrific acts of abuse and neglect that
target girls on a daily basis. Girls who have just passed puberty have been
forced into marriage for generations, frequently with men who are several years
older than they are. A girl kid who is a juvenile is unable to formally consent to
such a partnership. They have endured ceremonies of female genital mutilation.
They are purchased, sold, and traded as commodities across international
borders in order to be used as prostitutes, slaves, or simply to be sold again for
a profit. In the past, many girls have been victimized.

Every continent experiences violence against girls, which is used by every

social and economic level and is to varying degrees condoned by every type of
government, major religion, and communal or familial structure. There is no
place where girls can find total safety; instead, only better legal systems and
more effective non-governmental help are promised.

Violence against girls and women can take many forms. From abuse at home
to attacks at school. From sexual violence to forced child marriage. Adolescent
girls are experiencing sexual violence and harassment, become pregnant too
young, forced to leave school and trafficked or forced into early marriage.
Thousands of girls are married every day below the legal minimum age. We
will not see a world where girls and boys have the same opportunities to
succeed in life until we eradicate child marriage.

The crimes committed against female students around the world will be
examined in this study, with an emphasis on the opinions and points of view of
various newspapers. In this study, we'll examine the numerous forms of
violence and prejudice that females experience in schools and universities, as
well as the root reasons,

We hope to highlight the seriousness of the situation and the pressing need for
action to put a stop to the abuses of female students through this report. In order
to provide safe and inclusive learning environments for all students, regardless
of gender, we hope that this research will act as a wake-up call for all
stakeholders, including governments, educators, parents, and communities.
News Reports on Atrocities
against Girl students
Violence against girls affects their health and mental wellbeing negatively and lead
to an unhealthy future for them and the society at large, Violence against girls
begins even before they are born. Be it sex-selective abortion, infanticide, or
beating of a pregnant woman because she may be having a girl child, we find
instances of incest and physical abuse against the girl child even as the girl child
grows up. Today, there is a lot of cyber violence as well. As a woman, she
experiences all forms of sexual violence as well as domestic violence, intimate
partner abuse, and forced pregnancies and abortions.

There is good evidence that the media shapes public understanding of violence
against women and girls. Gender-based violence includes acid assaults, 'honour'
crimes, incest, gender-specific infanticide and foeticide, early or forced marriages,
FGM, rape, domestic violence, and (online) harassment. Several reports on
violence against women have been successful in shifting perceptions and triggering
significant societal and legislative changes. Global media standards for violence
against women and girls reporting encourage greater "thematic reporting" as
opposed to incident-based reporting.

The bulk of the newspaper articles, according to the analysis of the stories,
supported the victim. Bullying and rape are just two examples of the wide range of
crimes against women. Even young youngsters cannot escape its hold. A girl is
actually never safe anywhere. There have been news stories and complaints about
teachers who have raped or molested their kids. Another evil that still plagues our
nation is child marriage. The fact that the number of child marriages in south India,
particularly in Kerala, is low offers us hope, but the percentage in the north of the
country is alarming.

Some of the main issues portrayed in the newspapers regarding atrocities against
girl children were:
Child or Forced Marriage

Women and young girls are trapped in partnerships that deny them of their
fundamental human rights as a result of forced and child marriages. In and of
itself, forced marriage is a violation of human rights. Numerous young girls are
compelled to leave their parents' homes and assume the adult role of wife while
they are still children.

Genital Mutilation of Women

Around the world, there are many cultures that practice female genital mutilation.
Between 100 and 140 million women and girls are said to have experienced female
genital mutilation globally. In Africa, 3 million girls are exposed to the practice
annually. All practices that involve the partial or complete removal of the external
female genitalia or other harm to the female genital organs for non-medical
purposes are considered female genital mutilation. The practice has significant
health repercussions for girls and women, but it has no positive effects on their
health and is widely seen as a violation of their human rights. Female genital
mutilation causes serious physical and psychological problems.

Trafficking, prostitution, and sexual exploitation

The physical and mental health of girls is seriously endangered by sexual

exploitation, trafficking, and prostitution. Numerous nations and organizations,
including the US and the UN, have kept an eye on the situation and started
campaigns to put an end to the practices.

Prenatal Sex Selection

Prenatal sex selection, often known as sex-selective abortion, is a discriminatory

practice in which a fetus's gender determines whether it will be terminated or taken
to term. The selection of prenatal sex happens in two steps. In the first step, the sex
of the foetus is determined via ultrasound, chorionic villus sample, or
amniocentesis. The second step entails aborting the foetus purely on the grounds
that it is a female. Prenatal sex selection is based on cultural and discriminatory
factors in addition to medical ones.

Sexual harassment in the schools

Sexual harassment is a forbidden type of violence against women and a violation of

women's human rights. Sexual harassment causes incalculable psychological, and
physical suffering to its victims. Both at work and in schools, there is a lot of
sexual harassment of young girls. Employers who use girl youngsters as domestic
helpers or as industrial workers are prone to harassing them sexually and abusing
them. Girls who attend school are frequently the targets of bullying from peers or
teachers.

At least two women are sexually assaulted every hour, and every six hours, a
young married woman is either beaten to death, burned alive, or driven to commit
suicide, according to a report by the National Crime Records Bureau. Women
experience unimaginable miseries as a result of such horrible crimes and violence,
including self-isolation, unemployment, income loss, and failure to provide child
care, which is a serious worry. Our society has been conditioned to believe that
women are frail and reliant on males.
CONCLUSION
The World Health Organisation has classified gender-based violence as a high
impact health problem because it has become such a major problem. One of the
groups most susceptible to violence is women. The community feels uneasy and
afraid because of violence against women. All of this is the result of a patriarchal,
or male-centered, society in which people believe that women should always stay
inside the confines of their homes and should not speak up against injustice when it
occurs. The sex gender system exposes girls and young women to various types of
violence, such as infanticide, kidnapping, sexual harassment, murder, and
homicide, which prevents women from living lives of dignity. By aggressively
giving complete treatment, this issue can be resolved. To provide treatment under
one roof, a multifaceted, multi-agency team with access to psychological assistance
is to be made available. Additionally, some primary prevention programs like
gender sensitization and sex education are implemented in all schools and colleges,
and women are made aware of their rights so they can have the courage to fight for
justice. It's time to stop keeping quiet, give them the respect they deserve, and
create an inclusive workplace for them.
