BASELINE LIFE LIMITED COMPONENTS

1. Baseline Life Limited Components
A. General
This section lists all components that have retirement (scrap) times controlled by FAA Engineering.
The retirement times (frequency) are not subject to change by Gulfstream operators.
Structural component life limitations are categorized into two groups: Serialized and Non-Serialized
Components.
Serialized components are defined as being fully interchangeable from one aircraft to another
without modification or alteration and are contained in Table 1.
Non-serialized components are defined as not interchangeable among other aircraft and are
specifically associated with the original aircraft serial number and are contained in Table 2.
FAR 43.10 Disposition of Life Limited Aircraft Parts provides acceptable guidelines/criteria for use
with and/or disposition of life limited parts. After April 15, 2002 each life limited part must be
controlled and life status integrity substantiated by part number and serial number. Disposition of
Parts Removed identifies acceptable record keeping methods, including marking instructions per
FAR 45.16. and transfer of Life Limited Parts identifies responsibilities and guidelines for the sell or
transfer of life limited parts.
B. Baseline Life Limited Components Tables
Main landing gear assemblies (1159L30001 and 1159L40001) have the same life limit, therefore
components used in either assembly also have the same life limits.
Nose landing gear assemblies (1159L20004, 1159L30004-11 and 1159L30004-15) have different
life limits; however, the assemblies use common parts. The life limit of individual parts are
determined by the life limit of the assembly they are installed in.

EXAMPLE: A nose landing gear assembly 1159L30004-15 has a life limit of 19,000
landings, therefore all sub assembly components will have a 19,000 landing
life limit. Sub assembly components installed on a 1159L30004-15 (19,000
ldgs) cannot be used on 1159L30004-13A (21,700 ldgs) to gain an additional
2700 landings.

Replacement parts will have their life limit identified individually without being life limited by the
original assembly.

C. Serialized Interchangeable Life limited Components — General Information

This section provides the maximum approved lives of serialized parts considered interchangeable
from one serial number aircraft to another without modification or alteration. Components must not
remain in service past its specified life. Component lives must be counted gradually for each part
from its first entry into service. These parts must be controlled by part number and serial number
and must have an appropriate record keeping system to maintain life status integrity.
Service life achieved on any structural part may be less than that permitted by the published
limitation as a result of structural repairs from corrosion or in-service events. Repairs and
re-calculated life limitations must be considered on a case by case basis. Contact Gulfstream
Technical Operations for assistance.
The base part numbers given are those that have been subjected to certification testing and/or
analysis and identified as a Safe Life designed component. These parts have been identified per
FAR 45.16 Marking of Life Limited Parts.

D. Non-Serialized - Non-Interchangeable Life limited Components — General Information

This section provides the maximum approved lives of non-serialized parts considered not
interchangeable from one serial number aircraft to another without modification or alteration.
Components must not remain in service past its specified life. Component lives must be counted
gradually for each part from its first entry into service. Each time the part is removed, the life status
record must be updated. Aircraft without a record of the number of landings, a conversion of one
landing per 1.24 flying hours is considered acceptable. These original production parts must be
controlled by part number and aircraft serial number upon removal, per FAR 43.10 (b) and have an
appropriate record keeping system to maintain life status integrity.
Replacement parts must be identified with the appropriate part number and aircraft serial numbers.
Life status of the replacement part must be documented. A part must be rendered not airworthy and
incapable of being repaired upon removal after it has reached its life limit.
Service life achieved on any structural part may be less than that permitted by the published
limitation as a result of structural repairs from corrosion or in-service events. Repairs and

re-calculated life limitations must be considered on a case by case basis. Contact Gulfstream
