Howard My homestay was fun, but I was a little sad

sometimes. I missed my family at dinnertime. At night, I thought about my mother
and father. I wanted to talk to them. I wanted to play with my little brother, too. I was
happy to come home.

Maureen I went to Korea for my homestay. The language was really difficult! The first day, I wanted
to talk to my host family about my country, but I couldn’t. Later, I was at a
restaurant. I tried to order, but I couldn’t. I didn’t have a Korean-English dictionary,
so I couldn’t explain things.

Mitch I went to Japan. On my birthday at dinnertime, my host family wasn’t in the kitchen. I found
everyone in the living room. They all yelled, “Happy birthday!” And there was a cake! My host family
gave me presents, too! I didn’t tell them about my birthday. How did they know?

Tracy I loved my homestay! It was great. There were so many new things. New music . . .
new people . . . new food. Every day was amazing! I want to go back – tomorrow!

Wendy On my homestay, I was busy every day. I stayed up until 11 o’clock every night, and I had to
get up at 6:00 a.m. My days with my host sister were really busy. We went
to school, we went to the park, we went to the supermarket and the department
store. We went to my host sister’s friends’ houses, and we went to the beach. We
went to parties, too. Sometimes I just wanted to go to sleep! I was really tired by the end of my
homestay.
