Hand-Off

A hand-off refers to the process of transferring an active call or


data session from one cell to another cell.

A hand-off is important for delivering uninterrupted service to a


caller or data session user.

Dwell Time

The time period for which a call is maintained in a cellular


region, without hand-off is called dwell time.

RSSI

RSSI stands for Received Signal Strength Indicator.

It is the name for the signal strength of a wireless network


environment. RSSI is not noticeable to users.

It’s a value that is useful for determining if you have enough


signal to get a good wireless connection.

RSSI value of 55 is generally considered to be good enough for


most users and online activities.
The RSSI accuracy indicates the average error associated with
each received signal strength measurement. A typical
commercially available transceiver is expected to be capable of
providing ±4 dB or better typical RSSI accuracy.
