communications.
Using an Ethernet to Serial converter configure to use the IP Address on your network. The Ethernet
to Serial converter is to be connected to a 2 nd Signal Amplifier (G2-SA). This new Signal Amplifier will
be used IN ADDITION to the old G2 Amplifier. Your G2-SA (G2 Blackbox Amplifier) is also a security
key and must remain connected to the G2 Servers serial port.
Before converting the communication over to the Ethernet based connection, you will want to force
G2 to log totals so you do not loose any totals. To do this, either wait for a Retrieval time to pass and
do this right after the retrieval time, or create a new retrieval time a few minutes ahead of the current
time. To create a new Retrieval time, go to the Edit Retrieval Times screen in the G2 client. Add a
new retrieval time that is a few minutes ahead of the current time and click Add/Update. Wait until
that time passes and wait another minute. Then proceed to these steps:
1. Disconnect the blender network cable on the original G2-SA (Black box) from the “Output to
Blenders” port and connect this cable to the “Output to Blenders” port on the new black box
Signal Amplifier.
2. Connect the Ethernet port on the Ethernet To Serial Converter to the same computer network
that the G2 Server computer is attached to. (if the G2 Server is not part of a computer network
and nothing is plugged into the G2 Servers Ethernet Port, use a Crossover cable to directly
connect the G2 Server to the Ethernet to Serial converter. Connect the Serial side of the
Ethernet to Serial converter to the PC side of the G2-SA (Black box signal amplifier) using a
straight thru serial cable for Moxa DE-311 or Moxa 5110 or Moxa 5150. Moxa DE-211
requires a Null Modem serial cable.
3. Plug in power cable of the new signal Amplifier. Plug in the power pack of the Ethernet to
Serial converter.
5. Write down the blender ID numbers and then delete each blender.
6. Add your blenders again, one by one, with the following information:
a. Enter the Blender ID number and check the box TCP/IP Access.
b. Enter: < Ethernet to Serial converters IP address> into the WSB I.P. field
c. Enter: 4001 into the Port field.
d. Click Add/Update
e. When the Blender ID is listed in the table below, select it in the list and look at the
“State” of the blender (below the description). Verify that is “Online”.
f. Repeat these steps for each Blender ID.
