GENERAL PURPOSE: TO PERSUADE
SPECIFIC PURPOSE: TO PERSUADE PEOPLE ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL
MEDIA AND HOW IT HELPS JOB SEEKERS.

Thesis statement: I would like to discuss how social media help job seekers, why social
media is important, and the consequences if people ignore it.

i. Main point 1: How does social media help job seekers?

a) Sub point I: People often use social media to find jobs because it lets
them connect with potential employers and vice versa. People looking for
jobs can use social media to find out about companies and specific jobs
and talk to people who work there. You can also use social media to build
your professional brand and connect with a larger group of professionals.
Employers can use social media to find and screen job applicants.
Employers can also use social media to learn more about a potential
employee's professional background and interests. Overall, social media
is an excellent way for job seekers and employers to connect and learn
more about possible jobs. YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn are some of the
platforms that people use today that can help job seekers.

b) Subpoint II: Social media helps job seekers and employers connect and
learn about opportunities. Youtube –Grow with Google is a good platform
for employment networking. YouTube can help people learn new skills as
new technologies change their jobs or businesses. Using LinkedIn data,
the tool shows job seekers how their skills and experience can translate
into new roles and provides LinkedIn Learning courses to fill in any skills
gaps. It lets job seekers see who in their network has relevant experience
 so they can seek advice. TikTok launched a pilot program to help users
find jobs and connect with companies. Users can submit video resumes to
companies using #TikTokResumes. Companies can use the app for
hiring. Social media can be a powerful networking tool for jobs. By
following these best practices, job seekers and employers can maximize
social media's employment potential.
