To ensure a quick and efficient spares service, it is essential that there should be no ambiguity or error when ordering spares. May we, therefore, ask your assistance by always giving as much information as possible, particularly in regard to the letters and numbers which will be found stamped on the aluminium casing just where the end cover joins the gear box shell on the kick-starter side. These letters and numbers are absolutely necessary to enable us to execute orders correctly. ‘Next it is important to give the correct part number according to the list on the preceding pages, and, whenever possible, it is advisable to return old parts as patterns, particularly when calling for gears. The fact thatthe sender’s name and address should be put in the parcel containing the parts, and also on the letter containing the order or instructions to repair, seems obvious, but we get a number of cases where these important items have been omitted. In cases where we hhave no ledger account, it saves delay of a pro-forma invoice if a remit- tance sufficient to cover the cost of the parts and carriage is included, or goods can be sent C.O.D. on request. Al claims for free replacement must be accompanied by the alleged defective part, and our judgment must be accepted as final. After the expiration of 7 days from the despatch of notification of the company’s decision the parts or part submitted may be scrapped. It is our endeavour to despatch all orders for spares the same day as received, whilst repairs are completed with the least possible delay Estimates for repairs are gladly submitted where required. We reserve the right to dispose of all repairs not claimed within three months from the date of estimate or completion. Whenever we make alterations and improvements to our gear boxes, the new part is made interchangeable with the old part, and the latter allowed to become obsolete, thereby giving customers the benefit of the improvements. To assist those riders who are not fully conversant with our gear boxes, we have compiled a booklet of instructions, which will be sent on request to any one who has need of it, post free 4d. If there is any point not covered in the foregoing remarks, please remember we are willing to answer any questions, and our experience is always at your service. LUBRICATION. All Boxes are sent out filled with Grease, and should be replenished every 1,000 miles with approximately 2 or 3 ozs of either Wakefield’s Castrolease Medium, Gargoyle Mobilgrease No. 2, Shell Motor Grease Soft, Price’s Belmoline “D” or Esso Grease. ‘The Box should not be completely filled or grease will be forced out through the bearings. We DO NOT RECOMMEND THE USE OF OIL OR HEAVY GREASE. 10
