Theory
An interdisciplinary area Stephan E. Nikolov Science Direct 2022
of study known as political
theories looks at polity,
violence, war, and conflict.
They were created as a
result of the state's
emergence as a
"monopoly on the
legitimate use of physical
force" (M. Weber).
Political theories can be
classified into two major
categories that are
frequently combined:
those that assist in
governing and those that
define politics for the
general public. They are
fundamentally about
things like fair
distribution, the
philosophy of democracy,
acceptance of minorities,
and various perspectives
on power.
Political theory is the Benjamin Boudou CAIRN International 2016
belief that a whole human
must be able to think
critically about
government and that the
only way to transcend
banality is to develop
one's ability to critically
analyze and debate the
works of the greatest
political theorists. It is
intellectually transforming
to understand how
political ideas fit into the
republic of letters as a
whole, into the political
regimes in which they
occurred, and eventually
to identify what is alive
and dead within this
cumulative body of
psychological and social
speculation.
Political theory is the Shawn Grimsley Study.com 2022
study of how politics
really function in
compared to how it
should function in an ideal
world. The two main
categories of political
theory are empirical
political theory and
normative political theory.
Political theory is defined
as "theory that involves
the analysis of ideas and
values related to the
state, individuals, group,
and power, as well as the
relationships between all
of these facets."
