This journal article is focusing on the milestones and empirical changes in addiction

treatment since the introduction of RP model. The authors have embarked on analyzing

the current changes in relapse prevention since the introduction of RP model three

decades ago. It also consist various researchers findings on the effect of RP in the

addition treatment. Thus, it is essential in this research paper as it offers a historical

overview and why RP is a necessary tool in dealing with addiction. Also, it is a good

source of information why RP is an effective model in handling substance abuse issues.

Jiloha, R. C. (2011). Management of Lapse and Relapse in Drug Dependence.

This is a review article on how one can manage lapse and relapse cases in drug

dependence. The author describes factors that lead to relapse and suggest ways one can

cope with the problem. Hence, this review will help in building up the knowledge on

reasons why relapse occurs and some of the ways RP can help people suffering from

addiction disease cope with it.

This article is an overview of the Relapse prevention as a model of dealing with

alcoholism and drug addiction. The authors have looked into the Marlatt’s model in a

detailed way by analyzing the theory behind it. The article classifies the RP technique

into two groups that can lead to relapse which are immediate determinants and covert

antecedents. As such, it will be essential in the research of the topic.

This journal article is focusing on describing how relapse happens and outlines the five

rules that are essential for people in the recovery journey. The author argues that relapse

takes place in three stages which are emotional, mental, and physical relapses. Also, the

author states the connection between cognitive therapy and RP as well as giving the

stages of recovery. In conclusion, the writer has outlined essential rules of recovery

journey. As such, the article is a crucial resource for this research paper.

prevention programme in the treatment of heroin dependence in China.

This is a research paper of an assessment study on a relapse prevention program that

short to treat heroin dependence in China. The aim of the study was to assess the efficacy

of RP as a model of handling heroin dependence. The researchers found that RP was an

effective way of dealing with this problem as it decreased the relapse rate in the group

that was being studied. As such, the researchers recommended it as a suitable approach of
handling drug and substance abuse. For this reason, this paper is an essential source in

studying about relapse prevention.

article will be essential in explaining how one can use RP model to deal with substance

and drug craving in handling addiction problem.
