Mun research

When was your country founded? What type of government does your government have? What are
your countries allies and enemies? What is your country’s capital? What is your country’s
population? What is your country’s population? What is your country’s ethnic composition? What
are some points in your country which other countries could bash you on (war crimes etc.)?

Q. Define the topic. Q. What causes this issue? Q. Who is impacted by this issue? Q. Where is this
topic most prevalent?

Important – Research past UN actions:

1. Past UN resolutions
2. International conventions and treaties
3. Reports of the secretary general
4. Reports of the economic and social council
5. Look at best delegate’s NGO guide

Now look at your country’s policy on the topic. Research what your country’s government have said
about the topic.

Now research possible solutions related to the topic. Look at existing solutions and try and come up
with new, realistic and detailed solutions which you would put in frameworks.

Look at your committee’s mandate. Print out a copy of the UN human rights resolution (it will be
good for bashing).

Come up with 30 possible MODs you could introduce.

Examples:
1. Mod to discuss the feasibility of a referendum in the border states in Ukraine.
2. Mod to discuss the affects of statelessness on children.

Come back from the committee and research all you need to do. Make a plan for further research.
