REFLECTION PAPER (CHAPTER 5)
On April 22, 2022, Group 3 began analyzing Chapter 5: Poverty, Inequality, and
Development. According to the findings, both top and bottom inequality are adversely related to
poor income growth, while bottom inequality is positively related to rich income growth. This
could be owing to societal fragmentation brought about by high levels of inequality, especially
among the wealthy.
Though some emerging countries have been able to maintain high levels of development
while simultaneously considerably reducing poverty over time, research suggests that rapid
growth and poverty reduction are linked. There isn't much of a link between income disparity
and economic growth. Openness to international commerce and capital, good conditions for the
creation of a managed, suitably informed, and balanced labor force, macroeconomic stability,
and a transaction cost environment appear to promote growth and poverty reduction.
As a result, poverty, inequality, and development are all related. I learnt a lot about the
subject through the reporter's discussion, and I now have a thorough comprehension of it.
