Choose a process in the Hospitality Industry that requires Supply Chain
Management and discuss the chosen process utilizing the Flow of SCM.

Supply chain management these days is critical to ensuring efficiency and

effectiveness of operations. Moreover, the food & beverage service represents a
distinct segment of the hospitality industry’s economy. A good supply chain
management paired with the food & beverage service process can increase the
sector's revenue, provide better performance of customized services to their
customers, while also reducing operational costs. The flow of SCM is evident in the
food & beverage service process:
1. Material/Product Flow: food (the product) moves from producer to
consumer via the processes of production, processing, distribution,
retailing and consumption.
2. Information Flow: information flow centers on transmitting orders and
updating the status of delivery. That is why inventory systems are vital in
the supply chain management, these systems with automated inventory
technologies like order tracking, helps ensure you have the most accurate
and updated numbers at all times.
3. Financial Flow: At the same time along with the material or product flow,
money that consumers pay for food moves from consumers to producers
in the reverse process. This flow also include involves credit terms,
payment schedules, and consignment and title ownership arrangements.
