RUNNING PREREQUISITE CHECKS

RUNNING PREREQUISITE CHECKS

1. The following prerequisite checks can be validated by running the OUI with this option: EMPREREQ_KIT=true

Optimizer Adaptive Features Disabling Requirements

EMKEY Copy Requirements
Other Database parameter checks

Note:
This step must be performed with a graphical installer session (GUI).

./em13500_linux64.bin EMPREREQ_KIT=true

For each failed prerequisite check, refer to the following table to fix them manually:

Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 13.5

Cloud Control Basic Installation Guide
Appendix A Overview of the EM Prerequisite Kit
Repository Prerequisite Checks Run by the EM Prerequisite Kit
Table A-4 Repository Prerequisites

2. Validate other prerequisites manually:

Note 2761728.1 13.5: Checklist for Upgrading Enterprise Manager Cloud Control from Version 13.3/13.4 to 13.5

3. Update Server Load Balancer Configuration Settings

Validate that the SLB Configuration is as mentioned in the Advanced Guide referenced below:

https://docs.oracle.com/en/enterprise-manager/cloud-control/enterprise-manager-cloud-control/13.5/emadv/enterprise-manager-high-
availability.html#GUID-F45A2F2E-FE04-414E-A4F0-A33518157F82

This is very important as the SLB to OMS communication can be impacted as the Java and weblogic stack gets upgraded as part of the
Enterprise Manager Upgrade to 13.5.

4. Invoke the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Installer for Installing Only the Software Binaries in GUI Mode Along with
Plug-ins

Note:
As described, this step must be performed with a graphical installer session (GUI).
This method is preferable to the silent option due to its simplicity.

The silent option, if required, is described here:

https://docs.oracle.com/en/enterprise-manager/cloud-control/enterprise-manager-cloud-control/13.5/emupg/editing-response-file-
upgrading-oracle-management-service-and-oracle-management-repository-silent-mo.html#GUID-F50C9FB2-D4C9-4294-B9BB-
AE7FF4C069FB

./em13500_<platform>.bin  PLUGIN_LOCATION=<absolute_path_to_plugin_software_location> [-invPtrLoc

<absolute_path_to_oraInst.loc>]

The installer requires about 14 GB of hard disk space in the temporary directory. If your temporary directory does not have this space,
then pass the -J-Djava.io.tmpdir parameter and provide an alternative directory where there is 14 GB of space.

If you are upgrading a multi-OMS setup, on each additional OMS instances, run the following:

./em13500_<platform>.bin -invPtrLoc <absolute_path_to_oraInst.loc_Inventory Pointer_File> PLUGIN_LOCATION=

<absolute_path_to_plugin_software_location>  PARALLEL_ADD_OMS_UPG=true

5. Run the allroot.sh Script

$<ORACLE_HOME>/allroot.sh

RUNNING THE ACTUAL UPGRADE (requires down-time)

RUNNING THE ACTUAL UPGRADE (requires down time)

A. Ensure that you back up the OMS (the middleware home and the inventory), Oracle Management Repository,
and Oracle Software Library. The restoration requires Instance home (gc_inst) backup. In case the upgrade fails,
you can always restore using the backup. For instructions to back up, refer to Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud
Control Administrator's Guide.

B. Stop the Agent running on primary OMS as well as on repository database host. In case of RAC repository,
stop the Agent on all instances.

C. Shut down the OMS you are about to upgrade and also the other OMS instances that connect to it.

D. Invoke the Enterprise Manager Cloud Control Installer for Configuring the Software Binaries in GUI Mode
by running the following script from the 13.5 Oracle home of the OMS:

$<ORACLE_HOME>/sysman/install/ConfigureGC.sh [-invPtrLoc <absolute_path_to_oraInst.loc>]

E. Monitor the Upgrade Progress

F. Perform Additional OMS Upgrades in Parallel

   For UNIX environment, run: <ORACLE_HOME>/sysman/install/ConfigureGC.sh

   For Windows environment, run: <ORACLE_HOME>/sysman/install/ConfigureGC.bat

G. Upgrade Central Agents or Standalone Management Agents to 13c Release 5 Using the Agent Upgrade
Console.

From the Setup menu, select Manage Cloud Control, then select Upgrade Agents.

POST-PGRADE TASKS

POST-UPGRADE TASKS

Common Required Actions after Upgrade to EM 13.5

1. Custom Certificates Status When Upgrading to Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 13c Release 5

When you upgrade to 13c Release 5, all custom certificates configured for the upload and console ports of the
OMS must be reconfigured after the OMS upgrade.

If custom certificates were configured for Oracle WebLogic Servers (admin server as well as managed servers),
then after upgrading to 13c Release 5, the custom certificates are not carried over. Instead, the Oracle WebLogic
Servers are configured with demo certificates. Therefore, after upgrading, make sure you reconfigure the Oracle
WebLogic Servers with custom certificates.

2. Reconfiguring External Authentication Providers Used with Enterprise Manager

If Enterprise Manager is authenticated with any external authentication provider or single sign-on solutions
(SSO), then, after upgrading to Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 13c Release 5, the external authentication
provider or SSO must be configured again.

3. Status of Webgate When Upgrading to Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 13c Release 5

If you have Webgate configured in your Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c Release 3 then upgrading to Oracle
Enterprise Manager 13c Release  will not configure Webgate automatically. For instructions about reconfiguring
after completing the upgrade process, see Reconfiguring Oracle HTTP Server Webgate.

4. Update the SLB Configuration in a Multiple OMS EM System

In the upgrade of a multiple-OMS EM 13.5 system, the SLB connection must be updated to preserve
communication with existing EM Agents. See the following reference for these details:

Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 13.5

Cloud Control Advanced Installation and Configuration Guide
Chapter 23 Enterprise Manager High Availability
Section: Configuring Multiple Management Services Behind a Server Load Balancer (SLB)

5. For the NFS-Mounted OMS Installation

If your OMS Instance Home is on an NFS File-system, follow the steps in the following document to put the
locks file on a local file-system:

https://support.oracle.com/epmos/faces/DocumentDisplay?_adf.ctrl-state=8a0vifyfw_119&id=2820181.2 10/15
