How to manage PXM using M580 - Configuring in-rack PROFIBUS module in M580

INTRODUCTION
This document focus on configuration of PXM module inside M580 rack

TESTED ARCHITECTURE USING M580 ARCHITECTURE


Let’s first look into below Architecture using Schneider PXM and M580 HSBY controllers

PROCEDURE

1. Software need to be installed to before configuring PXM


a. Unity Pro V14 or above. PXM will be part of unity catalog

b. PXM DTMS

Don’t forget to upgrade unity DTM catalog

c. Store PXM Lib inside Unity

2. Unity Configuration (Step 1)


a. Open Control Expert software and define architecture.

b. Open DTM browser and add Add PXM under NOC or M580 Distribution
bus

c. Sample architecture sample below:

d. Open M580 DTM

e. Open device list, select PXM module Addess setting and define IP and DHCP

Define IP for PXM

Enable DHCP and


define Identifier. Please
2 follow rule definition

f. Follow rule definition for define Identifier name

g. Go to Properties section and confirm if Identifier name and variable name should be
same

h. Build All control project and download to controller.


i. Open “cmd” window check if able to ping PXM modules, through M580 backplane
j. Close control expert and open unity loader v12. Confirm M580 firmware should be more
than v2.70

3. PXM Configuration(Step 2):

a. Open PXM M580 design tool.


b. Install all GSD’s for all profibus devices
i. Open GSD File management
Tools -→GSD file Management

ii. Add GSD files

Click on Add navigate to GSD file open and save.

iii. Confirm if GSD file is available inside Profibus device table

c. Create Project

d. Add PXM master


Select Device tab -→ Add →PXM Profibus Master → OK

e. Open PXM configuration and define all parameters

Instance Name : M580_SlotNumber_PXM0100


Master Mode: HSBY
A -IP Address: PXM IP where CPU is configured as role A
B- IP Address: PXM IP where CPU is configured as role B
Click Apply and then Ok
f. Download configuration in PXM
Open project Explorer →Select PXM → Right Click → Download to both
PXM’s

g. go online to see if both PXM are OK and working

Green Color: OK
Red Color: Not OK
Note: PXM Module should be flashed with latest firmware. Follow Procedure in another
KB article.

h. Add Profibus device in Project


Project Browser → profibus devices → Right Click → Add Profibus device

i. Select Device file and click OK

In my case I am using P&F device


j. Open Device by Double click on it
k. Confirm general settings

Define Profibus configuration for device

Configure all relevant parameters required, Node Address is a must.


Node Address is Profibus address of device
l. Download configuration to both PXM as shown in step f.
m. Check if all configuration working well. Go online

All device and PXM should be green.. If In red then there is a problem with those devices

n. Finally Export mapping file of PXM and Control Expert

o. Save Exported file in you pc location

Click Export

4. Unity Configuration (Step 3)


a. Open Control expert project
b. Import configuration file exported from PXM(Step 3-o)

Note: While importing if you are doing same file 2nd time don’t forget to
select replace all for Tags imported

c. Open imported session

d. Download Project to controller


e. Enable PXM master communication
*.Control.ProfbusRun = 1

f. Enable device DP communication for respective DP slave

For Example if slave DP slave address is 8 then

*.Control.DeviceEnable[7] = 1

5. LED Diagnostics for PXM (Step 4)


For the correct operator following LED patterns need to be analyzed:
LED Diag need to seen in 2 groups
