1. Identity theft is a growing problem worldwide, and unfortunately, Ukraine is
not immune to it. Based on the available data and statistics, all of the above
types of identity theft are a problem in Ukraine. Bin raiding is a common tactic
used by identity thieves to obtain information such as bank statements, credit
card bills, and other sensitive documents. Skimming: Skimming involves the
use of a device to steal credit or debit card information during a transaction.
This is a significant issue in Ukraine, with reports of skimming at ATMs and
gas stations being relatively common. Phishing: Phishing is a tactic used by
identity thieves to trick individuals into revealing personal information, such as
login credentials, credit card numbers, or other sensitive data. This is also a
problem in Ukraine, with reports of phishing attacks being relatively common.
Stealing: This type of identity theft involves physically stealing personal
documents such as passports, driver's licenses, and other sensitive information.
This is a concern in Ukraine, with reports of theft and mugging being relatively
common. Overall, it's clear that identity theft is a significant problem in
Ukraine, with all of the above types of identity theft being a concern.
2. On the internet, identity theft is prevalent, and I have encountered two forms of
it, namely phishing and pretexting. Phishing involves a fraudulent attempt to
obtain sensitive information, such as passwords, credit card numbers, or social
security numbers, by posing as a trustworthy entity in an electronic
communication, such as an email or a text message. The goal of phishing is to
trick the recipient into revealing their personal information to the attacker.
Pretexting, on the other hand, involves using a false pretext or a fabricated story
to obtain sensitive information from an individual. This type of identity theft
often involves social engineering tactics to build trust and credibility with the
victim. For example, a pretexting scammer might pose as a representative from
a bank or a government agency and request personal information under the
guise of verifying an account or investigating a fraud.
