Make sure everyone who cooks with this oven is familiar with this product's operation and with these precautions. PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO EXCESSIVE MICROWAVE ENERGY a. DO NOT attempt to operate this oven with the door open since opon door operation can result in harmful exposure to microwave eneray. It is important not to defeat or tamper with the safety interlocks. b.DO NOT place any object between the oven front face and the door or allow soil or cleaner residue to accumulate on sealing surfaces. el DO NOT operate the oven if it is damaged. It is particularly important that the oven door close properly and that there is no damage to the: (1) door (bent). (2) hinges and latches (broken or loosened), (3) door seals and sealing surfaces. . The oven should NOT be adjusted or repaired by anyone except properly qualified service personnel. Accaution To avoid personal injury or property damage, observe the following: 1, Briokly stir or pour liquids before heating to prevent spontaneous boiling or eruption Do not overheat. Pierce or open container or baa before heating. 12. Containers may become hat. Pot holders may be needed. INTRODUCTION The Amana oven uses microwave tech- nology to restore heat which is lost in the assembly of menu items. This unit may also be used in preparation of specific ingredients or components of a menu item. Each unit is equipped with pre-programmed control panel allowing the crew person to begin heating process based on menu item and quantity. Hazard Communication Standard (HCS) ~ The procedure(s) in this chapter include the use of chemical products. These chemical products will be highlighted with bold face letters followed by abbreviation (HCS). See Hazard Communication Standard {HCS) Manual for appropriate Material Safety Data Sheet(s) (MSDS). INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Unpacking the Oven Carefully remove the oven from the shipping carton. Remove all tape, paper and plastic, wrapping from the outer case. Inspect the oven for any damage such as dents in the door or inside the oven cavity. Any damage should be reported immediately to source of purchase. Electrical Supply/Power Cord Set Up The oven must be connected to a grounded circuit. Each aven should have its awn sepa- rate 20A/250V circuit breaker. Do not use a two prong adapter or any extension cord. (See Figures 1 and 2 below) A WarNiNe — wenoren use oF THE GROUNDING PLUG CAN RESULT IN A RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK OR DEATH. = 250V-20AMP aova0amr —_| Figure 1 Figure 2 Grounding Instructions DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES CUT OR REMOVE THE ROUND GROUNDING PRONG FROM THE PLUG OR BEND THE POWER PRONGS TO FIT A RECEPTACLE OTHER THAN THE ONE SHOWN FOR YOUR OVEN. SUCH ABUSE OF THE PLUG CAN RESULT IN ELECTRICAL SHOCKS OR OVER- HEATING. Consult a qualified electrician or servicer if the grounding inst uctivis are Hut cumnpletely understood, or if doubt exists as to whether the appliance is properly grounded Oven Placement Do not install oven next to or above source of heat, such as pizza oven or deep tat tryer. Excessive heat may cause oven to operate improperly and shorten life of electrical parts. Microwave Power Model MC22* delivers 1750 watts per McDonald's 1 liter water test. Radio Interference Oven operation may cause interference to radio, TV, or similar equipment. Reduce or eliminate interference by daing the following: * Clean door and sealing surfaces of oven according to instructions in "Equipment Set-Up and Close Procedures” on page 6. + Place radio, TV, etc. as far away as possible from oven. * Use a properly installed antenna on radio, TV, etc. to obtain stronger signal reception. Allow Air Flow Around Unit Allow air flow around unit. Leave at least 5/8 inch between air discharge on back of oven and back wall. Cord wrap projection ‘on back of oven ensures 5/8 inch spacing. Restricted air flow may cause oven to operate improperly and shorten life of electrical parts. Do Not Operate the Unit When Empty When operating nven, he sire there ic absorbing material (food, water) inside oven. Insufficient or improper food loads or improper containers (metal) may cause magnetron to overheat. When this happens, thermal switch will eventually turn oven off to allow magnetron to cool. Several minutes will elapse before switch resets and allows oven to operate, Do Not Put Excessive Weight on the Door Door is not designed to hold excessive weight which might cause door to become mis- aligned, resulting in improper operation. A WARNING To avoid clectrical shock which can cause severe personal injury or death, do not remove outer case at any time. Only autho- rized servicer should remove outer case.
