Open a new Well window and create a new Loglan.
1. In the top right corner of the new Loglan view, you will see a drop-down
menu "Type": Change this to ‘Combined’.
2. The interface will change slightly, with some buttons to the right. The main
window displays the modules graphically and allows you to connect them,
similar to a flow diagram.
4. This example will calculate a gamma ray, smooth it, and then calculate
porosity using the smoothed Vsh.
The feature described in this newsletter is part of the Aspen Geolog basic license. More features are
presented in Geolog Help documentation. To access it, press F1 within Geolog.
6. When clicking the ‘Add Modules’ button, you’ll notice there are some useful •
shortcuts listed on the left side of the dialog to help a quick navigation. The
example uses built-in modules, which are located in the installation directory.
Use shortcut by clicking {INSTALLATION}\loglan
7. When the three modules are added, the modules with the same name will auto-
connect on Start.
9. From the graphical screen, you can drag the modules around to reposition
them.
10. Connect the points by clicking on a black ‘node’ and dragging to another. The nodes on the left are
inputs; the nodes on the right side of a module are outputs.
Note: You cannot remove lines, only reposition them by dragging to reassign the nodes.
11. In the example, click on VSH_GR in the vsh_gr module, and drag it to LOG_IN in the tp_smooth
module. Then drag LOG_OUT from tp_smooth module to VSH of phi_den module.
12. Upon completion of the workflow adjustments, save the module in the usual way by clicking on the Save
button.
13. Once saved, open the launcher for this module (no compiling is necessary).
Navigate to where you saved it and open the .info file or open the launcher from the
main menu Image.
14. The module will look like a normal Loglan. However, you will notice that we now have a tab for each
module so that we may configure each step with parameters as we normally would. When we run the
module, it will automatically process the workflow as we designed it in the module combiner – using the
inputs and outputs that we defined with the paths.
