MG-HT-23-04 How To Connect New Ethernet Cable To FRM - FFC
How To Manual
Affected Systems:
VDR G4e
Introduction:
MacGregor has decided to use another type of cable connection as a second option.
The preferred cable and standard solution is the LEONI Ethernet-Link Cat5e (item code 1901030 ).
The LEONI cable allows cable length up to 60 meters.
The optionally solution Tough Cat 7 (item code 400214156 )is usable up to 40 meters only.
Cable connection to the VDR for Nemo 3.0 and Float Free Capsule Tron40VDR AIS Epirb
A. For connecting the Nemo 3.0 to the VDR use mainly the multi data cable (LEONIE) or
optional the DRAKA Tough Cat 7 S/FTP LSHF-FR.
The shield of the network cable must be connected to the grounded LAN Adapter.
Connect the cable to the corresponding ethernet unit according to the color code.
Ethernet
White / Orange (1) : TX+
Orange (2) : TX-
Green / White (3) : RX+
Green (6) : RX-
Power 24V DC
White Brown / Brown (5) : 24V
White Blue / Blue (8) : 0V
A. For opening the FRM NEMO 3.0 for plugging in the cable connection refer to the
FRM NEMO 3.0 User Manual chapter 4.4
For connecting the Multi Data Cable refer to the NEMO 3.0 user manual.
B. Led the cable head (internal connections of network cable) through the threaded
connection of the screw connection until the gray coating protrudes the screw connection
slightly (5mm) inside the Nemo foot.
D. Connect the cables to the green plug according to the following code.
Ethernet
White / Orange (1) : TX+
Orange (2) : TX-
Green / White (3) : RX+
Green (6) : RX-
Power 24V DC
White Brown / Brown (5) : 24V
White Blue / Blue (8) : 0V
Plug in the insulated wires without the wire end ferrules until the end.
F. For reclosing the electronic unit of the Nemo 3.0 refer to the
FRM NEMO 3.0 User Manual chapter 4.5
A. For connecting the Multi Data Cable refer to the VDR G4e Technical Manual.
B. In order to pull in the cable Tough Cat 7 into the FFC connection box, it is mandatory to
reduce the cable insertion to 13mm.
The reducer is already in place.
C. Led the cable head (internal connections of network cable) through the threaded
connection of the screw connection until the gray coating protrudes the screw connection
slightly (5mm) inside the FFC connection box.
E. Connect the cables to the green plug according to the following code.
From up to down:
Power 24V DC
White Brown / Brown : PW+ 24V
White Blue / Blue : PW- 0V
Green : RX-
Green / White : RX+
Orange : TX-

Plug in the insulated wires without the wire end ferrules until the end.
F. For connecting the cable from the FFC to the Connection Box refer to the VDR G4e
Technical Manual and to the VDR drawing.
G. Installed cable from VDR to FFC Connection Box
H. After all cable connections close the FFC Connection Box accordingly
