ii) Two convex lenses of power 2 dioptre and 10 dioptres are used an objective and an eyepiece of a telescope. Find
the magnifying power and the length of the telescope when focused for infinity.
iii) A car has a siren sounding of 2.5 kHz tone. If the frequency heard by a stationary listener is 200 Hz. Find the
speed with which the car moves away from the stationary listener. (Speed of sound = V = 340m/s) OR
In a sonometer a wire of length 1m is plucked at the center vibrates with a frequency 250 Hz, Calculate the
wavelength and the speed of the waves in the air?
iv) If the diffraction grating produces a first order spectrum of light of wavelength 1x10 -6 m at an angle 300 from the
normal, calculate the number of lines per mm.
v) A particle of mass 400 gm, rotates in a circular orbit of radius 20cm with constant angular speed of 1.5 rev/sec.
Calculate the magnitude of angular momentum of particle with respect to the centre of the orbit. OR
State and explain conditions of equilibrium.
vi) In a double slit experiment the light of wave length 5.89 x 10-7 m produces an interference pattern on a screen
160 cm away. If the distance between the center of the pattern and the 4 th bright fringe is 16mm.What is the slit
separation (d)? OR Define interference of light. Differentiate between Fresnel and Fraunhofer diffraction
vii) A projectile is launched at 60 with velocity 10m/sec. Calculate the velocity of projectile at half of its greatest
height.
viii) Two Forces (Vectors) F1 and F2 are acting on a body. The angle between F1 and F2 is °. Assuming that F1 is along
x-axis, resolve F2 into components, calculate the expression for the magnitude of the resultant force. OR Two
sides of a triangle are formed by the vector = 3 + 6 + 2 and vector = 4 - 3 + , determine the area of
the triangle.
ix) Derive an expression of variation in the value of acceleration due to gravity with depth or altitude. OR
The mass of planet Venus is 81.5 % that of the earth, and its radius is 94.9% that of earth. Compute the
acceleration due to gravity on the surface of Venus and what is the weight of a 5 Kg rock on the surface of Venus.
x) A 100-gm bullet is fired into a 15 kg block which is suspended by a long cord. If the bullet is embedded in the
block and the block rises by 5 cm. What was the speed of the bullet? OR A car starts from rest and moves with
constant acceleration. During the 5th minute of its motion, it covers a distance of 500m, calculate (a) the
acceleration of the car (b) the total distance covered by the car during this time.
xi) What are standing waves? Derive expression for the frequencies of vibrations in stretched string when it vibrates
in (a) Two loops (b) Three loops. OR Explain the phenomena of beats. Obtain an expression for the beat
frequency for the wave describe by the following Y1 = A0 Cos2f1t, Y2 = A0 Cos2f2t
xii) Define Absolute Gravitational Potential Energy? Derive work-energy equation.
xiii) Two thin lenses of focal lengths f1 and f2 are placed together. Derive a formula for such system. OR With the help
of a ray diagram explain the working of a simple microscope. Derive the relation for its magnifying power.
xiv) Calculate the centripetal acceleration and centripetal force on a man whose mass is 85 kg resting on the ground at
the equator. Given the radius of the earth 6.4 x 10 6 m and the earth completes one rotation in one day. OR Define
angular velocity and angular acceleration. Show that v = r  or a = r α, Symbols have their usual meanings.

of final velocity V1 and V2 of both bodies.
(b) With the help of a ray diagram describe the construction and working of a compound Microscope
and derive formula for its magnifying power.

Q5 (a) Define Simple Harmonic Motion. Show that the motion of projection of a particle moving in a circle
with constant speed perform simple harmonic motion on one of its diameters of reference circle. OR
Define simple harmonic motion and prove that for a small amplitude of vibration of motion of a simple
pendulum is simple harmonic motion. Also derive the formula for its time period.
(b) Define Projectile motion. Derive the expression for the total time of flight, range and the maximum
