Course Description:
The English 483 course, Translation of texts English> Spanish, lasts for one semester
and
It is offered to the students of the eighth semester of the Bachelor's degree in English. The
idea of including translation within this bachelor's degree is to provide the student with
translation skills that allow the graduate, in addition to being able to successfully enter the
translation job market.

This course includes four (4) modules of approximately four (4) weeks each. The student
will learn about the different trends and techniques of translation. You will learn to use the
vocabulary belonging to the specific areas that the degree includes such as: commerce
and legal, science and technology, tourism and maritime that are included within the
degree program of the degree.

The methodology of the course will be theoretical-practical, where the student must
analyze texts on different topics and degrees of complexity and learn to translate them
with efficiency and style.

The evaluation will be both formative and summative. The formative evaluation will
consider the workshops in classes and the tasks on texts translated from English to
Spanish.

The summative evaluation will be, in addition to the quizzes and assignments within the
semester, a final project of translation from English to Spanish.

Generic: 2. Know the different trends and techniques of translation, applying them in your
translation of texts from English to Spanish.
Specific: 2.1. Apply the appropriate techniques and procedures in the field of translation.
2.2. Examine the techniques used in translation.
2.3. Develop philological knowledge applied to translation.
2.4. Apply translation methodology techniques.
2.5. Evaluate and choose the best alternative for translation.
CONTENTS

This course consists of four (4) modules:

Module I: The translator and his work environment

Module 2: Theoretical and technical trends in translation
Module 3: The Lexicon in Translation
Module 4: Accuracy and style in the translation of texts from English to Spanish.

METHODOLOGY AND RESOURCES

During the 483 translation course from English to Spanish, the teacher will masterfully
present the theoretical part of the subject, will present readings of texts relevant to
translation such as: trade and legal, science and technology, tourism and maritime that are
included within the career curriculum and apply them to English to Spanish translation.

It will carry out sight translation workshops and will submit various versions of translation
for student criticism.

Methodological techniques include, dialogical expositions of the theory and techniques of

translation (Bibliography), individual and group work, as well as group discussions.

For the development of the course will be used: "data show", texts, dictionaries,
photocopied documents, "web" sites and electronic translations.
