Experiment 4: DC-DC Converters

Objectives:
1. Buck Converter
a. Study the variation of output voltage, capacitor voltage, Output current and voltage ripple
with respect to duty cycle and switching frequency
b. Observe inductor current value Analytical Vs Experimentally.

2. Boost Converter
a. Study the variation of output voltage, current and voltage ripple with respect to duty
cycle and switching frequency
b. Observe inductor current value Analytical Vs Experimentally.

Apparatus required:

(i). Regulated DC Power Supply

(ii). MOSFET / IGBT based switching module.
(iii). Microcontroller kit
(iv). Resistive Load.
(v). Two-channel oscilloscope
(vi). Current Sensor

Instructions:
(i). STM32F407 microcontroller kit is to be used for deriving the gate pulses.
(ii). Vary the duty ratio for a particular switching frequency and note down the results in
observation table
(iii). derive the relation between input and output voltage for a given duty cycle 𝑫, for buck and
boost converter.

Results:
(i). Results are to be stored from DSO
(ii). Provide response for instructions and objectives.
