Successional Development of Ecosystems, Water Cycle, and Oxygen Cycle

JOURNAL 7 - 9

In this journal the first topic that we discussed was Successional Development of Ecosystem it was a
series of changes that an ecological community experiences over time. The process's ultimate objective
is to achieve ecosystem equilibrium. The community that is successful in accomplishing this objective
is a climax community. In an effort to achieve this equilibrium, certain species proliferate, while others
become less numerous. The two major types of ecological succession are the main and secondary
successions. The process through which life restarts is referred to as "primary succession." It is the
succession that begins in arid conditions, such as those where there is no soil or where the land is
incapable of supporting life. Earth had no soil when the globe first started to develop. The earth is
comprised entirely of rocks. Secondary succession is the emergence of life in a location after all of the
earlier life forms have died. It occurs when the primary ecology is destroyed. Secondary ecological
succession can be seen here. After the tiny plants emerge, the larger ones do. The structure of the
organisms that live beneath the canopy of large trees is altered by the shading they provide from the
sun. The climax community has at last arrived. In addition, there is cyclic succession, which is only a
change in the structure of the ecosystem over time. Additionally, Ms. Dalmero and Erlano outlined the
main environmental, biological, and climatic elements that affect ecological succession.
The following topic is biogeochemical cycles. The four elements of the Earth system interact
chemically to produce it. Ms. Flores and Ms. Ermino's main focus was the water cycle. The water cycle
is propelled by the Sun's energy. These solar-powered processes cause the atmospheric discharge of
water vapor or vaporized water. Water flows over the Earth through evaporation, sublimation,
transpiration, condensation, and precipitation. As a result of the environment being heated during
condensation and cooled during evaporation, the water cycle has an effect on temperature. The water
cycle is impacted by humans as well. (1) Removing the water from lakes and the ground. (2) Make
land suitable for mining, farming, and building development by clearing it of vegetation. (3) By adding
nutrients, water quality is decreased. (4) To clear the water less, accelerate soil erosion, and clear the
area of plants. The lectures discussed the impact of pollution on the water cycle. Lead and cadmium are
two contaminants that are ingested by tiny creatures and subsequently devoured by fish and shellfish.
Drinking water contamination is a major cause of illness and mortality among urban residents all over
the world.
Our final topic for the day is the oxygen cycle, which is one of the biogeochemical cycles along with
the carbon and nitrogen cycles. For life to continue on Earth, the oxygen cycle is essential. Diatomic
oxygen (O2) may freely regenerate in the atmosphere thanks to the oxygen cycle. The oxygen cycle is
a biological process that travels through the atmosphere, lithosphere, and biosphere—the three main
spheres of the earth—helping to keep the oxygen level stable. Stage 1: Like the water cycle,
photosynthesis results in the release of oxygen into the atmosphere from all living things. Stage 2: All
aerobic organisms need free oxygen for respiration.Stage 3: Plants consume carbon dioxide once more
during photosynthesis after it has been released into the atmosphere by animals. The four primary
processes that use air oxygen are breathing, decomposition, combustion, and rusting.
I learned a lot on this specific day, despite the fact that this topic was taught in during my
elementary and high school days. I vow that I will always be willing to share my knowledge and what I
have learned because students can still learn about the environment even if we are focusing on the
course we are doing thanks to the continuous existence of the Science subject. When I claim that I don't
remember those lessons, I'm not joking.
