Company Description

The first milk tea business was introduced in 2008. Since then, the industry has boomed and
welcomed new entrants offering their own flavors and concoctions. Since the demand for it has been growing
over the last decade, competition among the players in the industry has resulted in diversification of flavors,
additional products and utilization of omni channel marketing to increase the product’s visibility. The
Philippines is known to be the second largest consumer of bubble tea in Southeast Asia. Alongside Singapore,
Malaysia and Indonesia, a Filipino consumer consumers at least 5 cups of milk tea in a month.

While all milk tea shops are motivated by different goals, ours is human-centric. We focus on the basic
human activity that allows them to communicate with others. Teasmis is a word-play from the colloquial term
tsismis meaning to gossip. Gossiping has a negative connotation since “tsismis” describes people’s
characteristic of being privy of other people’s private life. In Teasmis, we would like to focus on the human
ability to communicate, relate and relax with other people.

A. Company Background

1. Logo (Describe and explain your company logo color – design – origin)

The logo of Teasmis shows two milk tea cups imitating two people talking. The design is based on the fact
that people love to talk about different subjects while drinking their favorite beverage. More often than not,
talking about one’s beverage is a good conversation starter. Pastel colors are applied in the logo to imbibe a
more relaxing and comforting feel.

2. Location

Since our target market would be people from 16-35 years old, we would like to open our first kiosk near
schools and offices where convergence of people is expected to be high almost all the time. In this regard, we
would like to lease a commercial space along Taft Avenue. But given the starting capital, a kiosk or stall would
be more applicable.

B. Innovation Aspect

-Steps of Innovation Process –

Step 1: Idea Generation and Mobilization – New ideas are created during idea generation. ...

Milktea or bubble tea is not a new product since it has been in the country as early as 2008. However,
through wordplay, Teasmis was created. The fusion of two things that Filipinos love: catching up with friends
while/and drinking a particular beverage. We capitalize on the human activity of communicating and making
use of that activity as a marketing strategy which will encourage clients to have good drinks as their
conversation starter.

Step 2: Advocacy and Screening – ...

There are other beverages that can be considered such as fresh juice, coffee shop and specialty drinks such as
those that are consumed by people who have special and particular needs but considering the market for all
of which, there would be less client for each. For fresh juices, the younger market does not find it as appealing
as milk tea, for coffee shops, it would be quite difficult to compete with bigger and trusted names specially if
the financial capital is limited to P100,000. For drinks that cater to those with dietary needs, a more thorough
and lengthy research will be done and acquiring the service of a nutritionist/dietician would diminish the
financial capital significantly. As for Teasmis, we recognize the presence of numerous milktea and bubble tea
shops thus we would like to focus on the marketing strategy that most milk tea shops must have overlooked,
the joy of talking with friends while enjoying a flavorful drink and savory snacks.

Step 3: Experimentation – ...

In this stage, Teasmis will launch its soft opening as a kiosk with 3 sets of coffee tables and chairs. All
shop crew will be trained on how to deal with the clients in a friendly yet respectful of their personal space to
avoid overfamiliarity. For groups who would like to enjoy their beverages and food on site, they will be
encouraged to refrain from using their gad\gets.

Step 4: Commercialization – ...

Following the principle of “enjoying good food with good people,’ Teasmis will set up a kiosk that in inviting.
The tables will be round to encourage deep and continuous conversation. The colors and shades are in pastel
shades so it will be suitable to any age group. Dine-in and take out packages will be the same to cut down on
operation cost however, all cups will be spill proof.

Step 5: Diffusion and Implementation

A thorough standard operating procedure, extensive trainings, just labor practices, organized
management hierarchy and effective marketing strategies are the primary factors from which Teasmis will
take off. All stages of the business operation will ensure that every area and department are synchronized and
operate based on their tasks.
