Balut bidai (splint dressing) is a first aid method applied on injured body parts to maintain its

position using objects that keep the body part steady in a stable and comfortable position.
Therefore, an adequate understanding of handling fractures per standard operating procedures
is needed to prevent injury and maintain patient organ function. Purpose: This study aimed to
determine nurses' knowledge level of standard operating procedures for splint dressing on
fractures. Methods: the study used quantitative research using a simple descriptive research
design. Results: After collecting data for approximately one week, this study found from 27
respondents 100% of the nurses in Makassar City exhibited a good level of knowledge about
standard operating procedures for splint dressing in fracture patients. Conclusion: Based on
the results of the study, the knowledge of nurses in the emergency room of the TK II
Pelamonia Hospital Makassar is classified as good.
