"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever." ~ Isaiah
40:8
Flowers are mentioned in the Bible often as a reference for analogies and parables.
Scripture calls to the beauty and divine providence of their growth and bloom to inspire
us to live by faith and trust in the Lord. May we bloom as the flowers and be an example
of God's grace to the world!

27 "Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not
even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.
28 "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do
not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed
like one of these.
7 So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who
makes things grow.
1 I am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. 2 Like a lily among thorns is my darling
among the young women. 3 Like an apple tree among the trees of the forest is my
beloved among the young men. I delight to sit in his shade, and his fruit is sweet to my
taste. 4 Let him lead me to the banquet hall, and let his banner over me be love. 5
Strengthen me with raisins, refresh me with apples, for I am faint with love. 6 His left arm
is under my head, and his right arm embraces me. 7 Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge
you by the gazelles and by the does of the field: Do not arouse or awaken love until it so
desires. 8 Listen! My beloved! Look! Here he comes, leaping across the mountains,
bounding over the hills. 9 My beloved is like a gazelle or a young stag. Look! There he
stands behind our wall, gazing through the windows, peering through the lattice. 10 My
beloved spoke and said to me, "Arise, my darling, my beautiful one, come with me. 11
See! The winter is past; the rains are over and gone. 12 Flowers appear on the earth; the
season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land.
15 The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; 16 the wind
blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more.
2 They spring up like flowers and wither away; like fleeting shadows, they do not endure.
24 For, "All people are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the
grass withers and the flowers fall,
18 The inside of the temple was cedar, carved with gourds and open flowers. Everything
was cedar; no stone was to be seen.
24 How many are your works, Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of
your creatures.

5 I will be like the dew to Israel; he will blossom like a lily. Like a cedar of Lebanon he will
send down his roots;
1 The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.
Like the crocus,
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he
leads me beside quiet waters, 3 he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths
for his name's sake.
2 My beloved has gone down to his garden, to the beds of spices, to browse in the
gardens and to gather lilies. 3 I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine; he browses
among the lilies.
1 Woe to that wreath, the pride of Ephraim's drunkards, to the fading flower, his glorious
beauty, set on the head of a fertile valley- to that city, the pride of those laid low by wine!
34 The desolate land will be cultivated instead of lying desolate in the sight of all who
pass through it. 35 They will say, "This land that was laid waste has become like the
garden of Eden; the cities that were lying in ruins, desolate and destroyed, are now
fortified and inhabited." 36 Then the nations around you that remain will know that I the
Lord have rebuilt what was destroyed and have replanted what was desolate. I the Lord
have spoken, and I will do it.'
14 and I will bring my people Israel back from exile."They will rebuild the ruined cities
and live in them. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens
and eat their fruit.
26 He also said, "This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the
ground. 27 Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows,
though he does not know how. 28 All by itself the soil produces grain-first the stalk, then
the head, then the full kernel in the head. 29 As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the
sickle to it, because the harvest has come."
