Adding Sounds to Frames

A sound is assigned to a keyframe the same way a symbol or a bitmap is placed on the stage,
by selecting the keyframe and then dragging a copy of the sound from an open Library panel
( either that document’s or another’s ). Any sound that resides in a document’s library can be
assigned to a selected keyframe in that document by choosing the sound from the Sound pop-
up menu in the Frame Properties tab of the Property Inspector.

Organizing Sounds
Nothing prevents one from placing sounds in layers that contain other content, but the
document will be easier to handle – and sounds will be easier to find for updating and editing – if
one always puts sounds in separate layers reserved for a soundtrack.

To work with layers with sounds:

1. Name layers as a reminder of their content.
2. Place all the sound layers either at the bottom of the Timeline or at the top to find them
easily. The position of layers in the in the stacking order has no effect on the
playback of sounds in the movie.
3. Create a layer folder for sounds. Flash Player 8 and 9 can handle up to 32 sounds
playing at one time; all Flash Player versions can handle up to 8 simultaneous sound
files. If each sound file is put in a separate layer, it will be difficult to track. If working with
many sound layers, create a layer folder and name it SoundTracks. Place all the sound layers
in the SoundTracks folder to make it easier to work with the sounds.
