Abstract

A smart waste management system for metropolitan cities using IoT involves the integration of
Internet of Things (IoT) technology with traditional waste management practices. This system
aims to optimize waste collection and disposal processes, reduce waste and increase efficiency.
The system consists of IoT sensors placed in waste bins to track the level of waste and transmit
the data to a central database. This data can be analyzed to determine the fullness of each bin,
and schedule collection routes accordingly. Additionally, real-time monitoring and predictive
maintenance can be performed to minimize breakdowns and reduce waste. The implementation
of a smart waste management system can lead to improved sustainability, reduced carbon
emissions, and cost savings for metropolitan cities.
