REPORT ABOUT (important notes arabian plate tectonic
setup including iraq and kurdistan region during the
mesozoic)
THEORY : geology of iraq

During the Mesozoic era, the Arabian Plate, which includes the Kurdistan region and
Iraq, underwent significant geological changes that led to the formation of various
geological features, including mountains, rift valleys, and basins. The region was part of
the supercontinent known as Pangaea, which began to break apart during the early
Mesozoic era.

As the Arabian Plate moved away from the African Plate, it began to experience tectonic
activity that resulted in the formation of the Zagros Mountains and the Taurus
Mountains in Turkey. The Mesopotamian Basin, which includes the Kurdistan region and
Iraq, was also formed during this time, as a result of subsidence and sedimentation.
During the Mesozoic era, the Kurdistan region and Iraq were also covered by shallow
seas, which deposited layers of sediment that eventually formed the rock formations
that are now the source of oil and gas reserves. These reserves were formed over
millions of years through the process of organic matter being buried and transformed
into hydrocarbons.

Overall, the Mesozoic era played a significant role in shaping the geology of the
Kurdistan region and Iraq, and its legacy is still visible in the geological formations and
natural resources that the region possesses today.
