What were the range and payload of these missiles? ‘The S6Sth Strategic Missile Squadron of the 380th Strategic ‘Aerospace Wing was equipped with thirteen Atlas F Missiles. This allowed each silo to possess one Atlas Missile with one additional missile to be used as a spare. When one missile in an existing silo was scheduled for maintenance the extra missile, maintained at PAFB, This allowed the 380th to maintain 12 ready ‘to launch missiles seven days a week. This wing was the last unit to receive the Atlas Missile, and the only base east of the Mississippi River to possess Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBMs), was sent to replace it.
