CHOIR PRESENTS BORN A KING

NARRATOR: It’s a Birthday celebration tonight! I love
birthday celebrations, don’t you? Is there anyone here who
was born in December? Well tonight we are going to take you
on a journey to share in the birth of somebody special – Our
own Dear Jesus, Lord and Saviour of us all – our soon coming
King!

You know the story very well, but we hope to revive it in your
hearts with some familiar carols and some new songs.

The story of Jesus’ birth was indeed a miracle. Hear the choir
tell you about it in the song Once upon a Miracle. It is an
amazing story. And each year at this time, when we retell it,
the whole world seems to take on a new attitude, You see
smiles on every face, and though our gatherings this year will
be smaller because of Covid (let’s not even think of that word)
we will still celebrate the Christ Jesus.

CHOIR SINGS: Angels from the realms of

Glory WITH Once Upon a Miracle (FROM
ONCE UPON A MIRACLE)

NARRATOR: Have you started to see the picture, have you

put on your shoes for the journey to see the King? It was time
to fulfil the ancient prophecies. It was time for God to send
his son to earth to live and to give all humankind a new
Beginning. So God sent an angel to appear before Mary
saying. “the Lord is with you: blessed are you among women.”
And Mary became great with child, and Mary believed. She
believed in the message the angel brought from God, and she
trusted in God. She began a new Life as a servant of God…..

CHOIR SINGS: Heaven Sent (FROM HE IS

BORN CHILD DIVINE)

NARRATOR: Sometimes, it is the little things in life that

bring us great joy. Things like a star twinkling in the sky, the
setting of the sun. There is thing like looking at a flower
unfolding. There is this flower called Night Blooming Cereus
that only fully opens at night so you have to stay up and watch
it unfold. But the wonder of a rose unfolding, give us so much
pleasure. Do you love roses? Have you ever seen one one
unfold?
(Show blooming rose timelapse video while the song progresses)

CHOIR SINGS: Lo How a rose e’er

blooming (solo by
………..)
NARRATOR: Unexpected events can shatter our sense of
peace, can’t they? Even when the unexpected is a word from
God, the serenity of our own little world can suddenly be
shaken to its core. I imagine that Mary felt this way as an
angel greeted her and announced that she, of all women, had
been chose to give birth to the Messiah. What thoughts do
you think flooded her mind? What emotions swept over her
soul? Mary’s response is a model for us when we face the
unexpected. Her acceptance of the word of the Lord resulted
in an outburst of praise “My Soul magnifies the Lord” No
doubt she remembered the word of the ancient Psalmist said,
“O Magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name
together.”

CHOIR SINGS: One Quiet Moment (FROM

HE IS BORN CHILD DIVINE)

NARRATOR: How totally like God to surprise us with His

coming. He filled the earth with the glory of His presence, but
announced His arrival in unexpected ways. There had been
signs and prophecies all along. But when He finally appeared,
only a handful even noticed. A group of shepherds, outcasts
really were assured that to them a Saviour had been born.
And a very knowledgeable group of seekers were led on an
amazing journey by a single mysterious star.

What they found was a child looking much like themselves, a

flesh and blood Messiah wrapped up on meekness and clothed
in humility. The infinite as a mortal, a Saviour in swaddling
clothes.
CHOIR SINGS: Go tell it on the Mountain
arr. By Frederick Hall

NARRATOR: Don’t we love the bells at Christmas? Some

of our churches still ring bells and our own Bethel Chimers
and Bell ringers always draw a crowd at its performances. But
we can still sing about bells here at Dalkeith as the Choir
presents Ding Dong Merrily on High.

CHOIR SINGS: Ding Dong Merrily on High

NARRATOR: Later on…God put a gigantic star in the sky:

so huge that some men in a far away land saw it and decided
to follow it and see where it would lead them. It led them
right to where Jesus was. I know that that this is hard to
believe. Anyway, these men brough Jesus some very
expensive gifts because God had told the He was the King of
the Jews. They know this was true because we they saw Him
they fell down and worshipped Him.

CHOIR SINGS: Come to the Manager

(FROM CHRIST IS BORN CHILD DIVINE)

NARRATOR: Here in the Caribbean, we love to celebrate

Christmas with our own Caribbean flair. The choir will sing
some of your favourite Caribbean songs and you can sing
along if you know the words.

CHOIR SINGS:

 A Bajan Christmas
 Calypso Noel
 Never a Baby like Jesus

NARRATOR: We celebrate Christmas as a new Birth, a new

Beginning a new Dawn of redeeming grace, a new faith, a new
promise, a new peace. Thanks be to God o the fulfillment of
his promise – the birth of his son - and a new beginning for
each of us.

CHOIR SINGS: Hallelujah Christmas

(Once upon a Holy Night)

CHOIR SINGS: The truth sent from above

NARRATOR: When Christ was born, even the rags of

humility wrapped His tiny body, heaven knew that this was no
ordinary baby. For God so loved the world, He chose to send
us a savior that you and I might have life and have it more
abundantly. That’s what Christmas is! Think about it….He
loved us enough to make it personal. Is it any wonder we
worship Him?

And so it is today. God has a plan, and it includes you. It

doesn’t matter where you are, or where you’ve been, you’re
included. His Word reflects it, and the earthly genealogy of
Christ Himself affirms it. A large number of flawed, imperfect
strugglers led to the absolute perfecting of God’s appearance
on earth. Though we’ll never fully comprehend the intricate
complexities of God’s master plan. In the fullness of time He
came.

CHOIR SINGS: Carol Medley to the King
